Daddy's Eyes
The Killers Lyrics

I'll tell you what you wanna know,
But boy you better listen close.
People gonna tell you lies,
Don't let it come as a surprise.

That woman's on my back again,
I know she's got the best intentions.
When you begin to realize,
You know you got your daddy's eyes.
And there's something that I want to say,
I love her, too.
And all of this has got nothing to do with you.

And I'd like to stay but I can't because
I've been fooling around and I know
That you called because you never even knew
That it was hurting me.

When you put it on the other hand,

When you're old enough to understand.
That glove will bring it all to life,
I didn't say that made it right.

Because that woman's on my back again,
I know she's got the best intentions.
When you begin to realize,
You know you got your daddy's eyes.

And there's something that I want to say,
I love her, too.
And all of this has got nothing to do with you.

And I'd like to stay but I can't because
I've been fooling around and I know
That you called because you never even knew
That it was hurting me.

And I'd like to stay but I can't because
I've been fooling around and I know
That you called because you never even knew
That it was hurting me.

And sometimes people get tired,
And I woke up a little too late to lie.

Dreams should last a long time,
This is not what I'd call goodbye.

And I'd like to stay but I can't because
I've been fooling around and I know
That you called because you never even knew
That it was hurting me.

And I'd love to stay but I can't because
I've been fooling around and I know
That you called because you never even knew
That it was hurting me, me.

I love her, too.

Dave Keunigs contribution at 2:30 makes this song perfect.

miss this vulnerability in his voice

@R T Battle born was the last decent album in my opinion.

Hot fuss/sams town/sawdust was my favorite era, kind of indie/pop sound.
Then I feel like day & age and especially battle born had an almost 80s vibe.
After that I don't care for much of anything. I think dave had a lot more influence on the writing on the first 2 albums.

2007 was definitely peak killers. Go watch any live show from that year, especially T in the Park 07 and I challenge anyone to disagree.

R T

Theodor18 I agree. Brandon’s voice is legendary from Hot Fuss - Sawdust. His voice in Day and Age is still good. But in Battle Born and Wonderful Wonderful it feels lacking.

@esther shih But from the Battle Born onwards they became very straightforward.

I miss his old song writing in general. To me, when someone says the Killers, I'll always think of the Sam's Town era. That album really just captures the feeling of their style for me. After Sawdust, they had a, well, new Day and Age. His writing shifted from this to more of a less direct style. For example, the opening to Sam's town, the lyrics are understandable and still mean something. But the opening to Day and Age, Loosing Touch, is more cryptic in a sense? Then ever since his lyrics have been a bit harder to understand.

Wow. I didn't even know this was a song by them. Thanks for the lyrics Jazzy Storm.

KittyKatMermaid

this is a compilation album it's like hullaboo by muse, they'll never play it, its just to keep all of their b-sides together

BenHaub

The Killers' underground stuff. For some reason they never play it live.
