Miss April
The Kings of Nuthin' Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Well last night my baby left me for some other guy
I was revin up my engines and behind the wheel to drive
Well I got me a pinup girl

Best girl in the world

Just when I thought of checking out throwing up my hand was raised
I looked up on my dashboard saw a symbol on the pane
Well I got me a pinup girl

Best girl in the world

- will never leave me fact shes here to stay
Her corners may be wrinkled but rest of hers okay
Well I got me a pinup girl

Best girl in the world

Well I got me a pinup girl
Best girl in the world

Well I got me a pinup girl
Best girl in the world

Well I got me a pinup girl

Well I got me well I got me
A pin up girl

Overall Meaning

The Kings of Nuthin's song "Miss April" is a song about heartbreak and finding comfort in something unexpected. The singer of the song has just been left by his girlfriend for another guy, and he's feeling pretty low. However, he finds solace in a pin-up girl, whom he describes as the "best girl in the world". The singer feels that this pin-up girl will never leave him, and even though she may be a little worn around the edges, she is still beautiful to him.

The song captures the idea that people can find happiness in unexpected places. The singer was feeling terrible after his girlfriend left him, but he found a way to move on and find something that made him happy. The pin-up girl, who is essentially just a picture on his dashboard, represents something positive and constant in his life, even if everything else is in chaos.

The overall tone of the song is slightly melancholic, but there is also a sense of hopefulness. The singer has been through a rough patch, but he's found a way to get back on his feet. The idea that something as simple as a pin-up girl can give him comfort is both poignant and relatable.

I wrote this song about my wife.....

Not exactly. The original band was "The Boston Blackouts" with Torr on bass, me singing, Mr. Green on guitar and Liam drumming. After I left Torr started singing and a lot of the membership switched, but they kept either the music or lyrics for a few older songs. This one was both music and lyrics. I wrote this one about my wife Jen, who was the cover girl on "The Horse Magazine" in April of 2000.
