Rachel and Johnny do the songwriting in bucolic Brampton (Cumbria) and from there the wav files are sent out to the rest of the gang - Grainne who flits twixt London and rural Ireland, and Phil who resolutely resides on the Isle of Man - a step up from his roots on Merseyside. The rest is filled is astutely and skillfully and all Rachel and Johnny's mistakes are repaired and improved upon - at the end they have something irresistibly listenable.
They claim that their influences are as follows:
Musical: Belle and Sebastian, ballboy, Looper, Sunhouse, Billy Bragg, Clayhill, Lloyd Cole, Cinerama, Drugstore, Lorna, Hefner, Simon and Garfunkel, The Go-Betweens, Richard Thompson, Crosby Stills Nash and Young, George Jones, The Mountain Goats, The House of Love, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Coastal.
Cinematic: A Local Hero, Amelie, Lost in Translation, Night on Earth, Educating Rita, Brief Encounter, Saturday Night Sunday Morning, A Taste of Honey, Billy Liar, The Family Way, The Graduate, Gregorys Girl, Career Girls, Breakfast at Tiffanys.
Literary: Douglas Coupland, Charles Bukowski, Roddy Doyle, J.D. Salinger, Shelagh Delaney, Stuart David, Kate Atkinson, Anne Tyler, Garisson Keillor, Anne Donavan, Tim Sandlin, W.B. Yeats, Rhold Dahl, Alan Sillitoe.
Geographic: We love the scenes and the sounds of Berlin and Dresden, the hustle, the bustle, the dirt and grime of London, we favour Caledonia for Glasgows West End and Edinburgh's Morningside and Forth Coast, and we would oft be found wandering the back streets of Manchester, Budapest and Galway in search of a song that we know is drifting on the industrial fumes and the city smogs.
Bucolia pulls us towards Cumbria with an endless nagging that refuses to give way; the scottish islands and the west coast of Clare have all left heavy imprints on us in our never ending search for the melodies that drive the sea breezes and the mists of sweet yet infectious pollen.
Easyjet has made the cities and sidelines of Europe our oyster, the songs are out there, running through the rivers and the trees, the hills and the valleys, through the mills, the factories, the canals, mines and most of all, the people - we don't write these songs, they write themselves, we just let you know how they sound.
