Missing you
The Mavericks Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Every day that you've been gone
I tell myself there'll be someone else
But that won't do
Each night that passes by
I long to hold you tight
I can't let go
I'm missing you?
Sometimes I fool myself and make believe
That when you're in his arms
You'll think of me
Though you're not here with me
I still want what used to be
I need you so
Oh don't you know
I'm missing you?
Sometimes I fool myself and make believe
That when you're in his arms
You'll think of me
Though you're not here with me
I still want what used to be
I need you so
Oh don't you know
I'm missing you?
I need you so
Oh don't you know
I'm missing you?
Missing you
Missing you
The Mavericks' song "Missing You" talks about the pain of separation and the sense of longing that comes with it. The singer expresses how tough it is to be alone and how every day that passes by feels harder than the last. He tries to convince himself that he'll find someone else, but deep down, he knows that he cannot move on. He misses his lover terribly and wishes he could go back to the way things were. The lyrics convey the agony of being away from the one you love but also the hope that one day they will be reunited.
The singer's honesty and vulnerability are what make this song so emotional. He admits to "fooling" himself and pretending that his former lover will think of him when she's with someone new. But he knows that these thoughts are just a figment of his imagination, and the pain he feels is still very real. His longing for his lover is amplified with each passing night, and he can't help but hope for a chance to make things right.
In conclusion, "Missing You" is a heartfelt song about the pain of separation and the wish for reunion with a lost love. The song's lyrics are poignant and capture the feelings of someone who is struggling to come to terms with a breakup. It's a song that speaks to anyone who has ever felt the sting of a broken heart and the longing for a lost love.

I remember this song was back in the Summer of 96. I remember I saw the video on CMT back then at Mom and Dad's house upstairs in my room and the lead singer Raul Malo sings and sounds just like Roy Obison. Roy is in Heaven.

I remember it well! The music and Malo's vocals were and still are haunting to this day. They deserved far more success than they enjoyed at the time. But as time has marched on they've developed a following that appreciates the beauty of their sound. They are truly unique!
