The Kicking Machine
The Melvins Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
He wont eat or speak
Running, raving, headless leading
little horned animal
They will burn in poison
Forget everything
Rotten, raving, headless leading
Round head, so big
He's here to pull their eyes out now, for the picking
My god, it's all remaining
My man, so big
Keeps me here to pulverize, I'm down, for the many
My god, it's all remaining
The lyrics to The Melvins' song The Kicking Machine are quite cryptic and open to interpretation. The first verse seems to depict a character who has become so lazy that they are incapable of even eating or speaking. The second line "running, raving, headless leading" could refer to someone who is leading others astray or perhaps blindly following some ideology or cause without thinking for themselves. The "little horned animal" at the end of the line could be a metaphor for someone who is a troublemaker or mischievous.
The second verse adds to the sense of unease and chaos with the line "they will burn in poison" which could suggest a destructive outcome to whatever situation is being described. The animal in question is now "homeless" which could symbolize a loss of direction or purpose. The third verse introduces a new character, "round head, so big" who seems to have a malevolent purpose as they "pull their eyes out now, for the picking". The final line "my god, it's all remaining" could mean that despite the chaos and destruction depicted in the song, nothing has really changed and everything will continue.
Overall, the lyrics to The Kicking Machine paint a picture of chaos and destruction, with characters who are lost, misguided, and have malevolent intentions. The meaning of the song is left to the listener's interpretation, but it clearly conveys a sense of unease and unpredictability.

Not sure why people keep propagating those lyrics on the internet. It's the same one with the typo (ruotten) copy/pasted everywhere and they're pretty clearly not right. These from themelvins.net seem more correct and don't have the telltale typo:
Any more lazy,
He won't eat or speak
Rotten, raving, headless leech,
Little horned animal
They were bullet poisoned
Forgive everything
Rotten, raving, headless leech,
Animal is falling/faultless
Right hand pathetic/perverted
It's fair/He's fit to pulverize her down, for the many
My God, it's all in ending.
