I Can't Dance
The Nothings Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The things I love from the things I've got to do
I think I'm failing you
I've tried so hard to contemplate
The way in which I search for meaning
Not sure what to believe
Anymore
Everyday when I wake up
I say no, I say no
No I won't do it again
Feels as though I've lost my mind
Feel like its all pretend
Everyday when wake up
I say no, I say no
No I won't do it again
I can't remember the last time
I was walking in a straight line
Got to escape the awful things
That are twisting, turning, burning up my soul
Or else they'll swallow me whole
I've got break the barricade
To find the kind of love these black mirrors
Try to emulate
Not scared of losing my grace this time
Everyday when I wake up
I say no, I say no
No I won't do it again
Feels as though I've lost my mind
Feel like its all pretend
Everyday when wake up
I say no, I say no
No I won't do it again
I can't remember the last time
I was walking in a straight line
These lyrics from The Nothings' song "I Can't Dance" delve into the inner struggles and conflicts faced by the singer. In the first paragraph, the singer expresses the difficulty of balancing their passions and responsibilities. They feel like they are letting someone down, possibly a loved one, as they try to figure out their own priorities and obligations.
The second paragraph reflects the singer's attempts to find meaning in their life. They have been deeply contemplating their search for purpose but are unsure of what to believe anymore. This could indicate a crisis of identity or a questioning of their beliefs and values.
The third paragraph reveals the singer's daily battle with themselves. Each day, they wake up determined not to repeat past mistakes or engage in negative behaviors. They feel like they have lost touch with reality and that everything around them feels like a facade or illusion. They yearn for a sense of clarity and authenticity in their life, which seems to elude them.
The final paragraph portrays the singer's struggle to escape the negative influences that are threatening to consume them. They are aware of the destructive impact these forces have on their soul and are determined to break free from their grip. The mention of "black mirrors" suggests that these influences may come from within themselves or through external sources that distort their perception of love and authenticity.
In conclusion, "I Can't Dance" explores the internal conflicts and battles of the singer, who grapples with juggling their passions and responsibilities, searching for meaning, resisting negative patterns, and yearning for genuine experiences. It conveys a sense of uncertainty, frustration, and a desire for change in order to regain a sense of peace and purpose in their life.

If Darla Dimple wasn't such a brat, I'd commend her for being a one woman tech crew. She killed it in making everyone a star!
@manuelorozco7760
Never thought i would say this but i totally agree
@heatherreagan8078
Imagine how good she'd be at it if she was actually trained.
@WilliamDearthwd
Yeah, she had all these attempts to halt that finale performance but they kept working in their favor instead. And moments after, she ranted at them and said, "I'm the star, you stupid...stupid cat! I should have drowned you all when I flooded the stage!" And the whole theater heard that. Well, that proved publicly that she's a brat kid star who hates animals. π

That's actually pretty funny!
She tried to sabotage the whole act on stage,.....ONLY TO MAKE IT BETTER!

@@dieselblaze6665 well, the irony is that she made it big and loud

Scott Baluka's singing was pretty impressive in this movie. He managed to hold his own with Natalie Cole.
@turtlepower4lee
Great Duet.
@dylankaiser5546
this movie is criminally underrated seriously why didn't it make more money?
@BlazingSteel
+Dylan Kaiser It didn't do enough publicity. It was very well received, but it had only one trailer, so it wasn't previewed enough.
