The Oaths were born in Guadalajara, Jalisco in 2009. The idea came from the minds of Arturo La Madrid, an established jazz musician and producer, and Andrés Romo, a lead singer in a local independent band called Antoine Reverb.
Andrés was managing a Jazz Bar that Arturo played in regularly every Saturday, and every week, right after his show, they got caught in a little drunk talk. They soon realized they had common interests in music, they both felt strongly about the electro movement that was happening in Australia and France, hailing names like The Presets and Boys Noize.
It was not too long before they decided to take matters into their own hands. They both met up at a friend’s studio and started working on some tracks Arturo had produced a while back. Suddenly, almost seamlessly, a collection of songs began to take shape. Determined on making it work in a live setup they called Poncho, an experienced drummer Arturo had been working with for a few years. Thus, The Oaths were born.
A few months is all it took to prepare a live act worthy of Guadalajara’s growing electronic scene. In late 2009 The Oaths presented their project for the first time to the public eye, gathering general acclaim. They began opening for International artists such as Junior Boys, Thieves Like Us and Trentemøller.
Although existing for a short period of time the Oaths have already crossed unto other Mexican territories playing New Years Eve 2011 in Playa del Carmen.
Alongside screaming bass and megaphones The Oaths explore a lighter side of electro, and head out to become one of the leading names in Mexican dance music.
ASTRONOMY
Astronomy is the first single off The Oaths debut E.P. It began as an idea of having an opening track that grabbed your attention immediately. It starts with a single bass line and starts building up to a soaring chorus. Gadgets we’re used to distort the singer’s voice creating a fictional character singing about sex and having fun. Tiffany, a Texan girl, was invited to participate with some verses, and Klaus Mayer, an Austrian sax player, recorded an impeccable solo.
Put all of those elements together and a fun crisp 90’s feel song soon came into play. The first studio produced song by The Oaths takes you on a fun care-free ride you’ll want to repeat over and over again.
by your side
The Oaths Lyrics

I'm always standing by your side
Yearning for night, and the shadows walk by my side
Beckon light and stars to fly by and guide my way to someplace
And inside, I'm falling right through black and I awake
To find a stellar sun that helps me die, and takes me to a haven
You don't look surprised, to see me reaching for a helping hand
That stops this ride and get's me off my feet so i can keep remembering
I will always come when you call me, you will look surprised once you see me
I will always come when you call me, you will look surprised once you see me
Yearning for night, and the shadows walk by my side
Beckon light and stars to fly by and guide my way to someplace
I feel you, can't see you, this whole thing is crazy
There's no turning back when your in paradise
The first verse of The Oaths' "By Your Side" seems to express an unwavering commitment to someone, even when they are difficult to find. The lyrics suggest a loyalty and steadfastness, perhaps even in the face of adversity. The second verse seems to take on a more introspective tone, as the singer reflects on their own journey towards enlightenment. The image of yearning for night and shadows walking by their side could symbolize a desire to explore the darker, more unknown parts of themselves. The mention of "someplace" and wanting the stars to guide them could suggest a search for purpose or meaning.
The bridge of the song shifts the focus back to the other person, who seems unsurprised by the singer's need for help. This could suggest a closeness or deep understanding between the two, where one knows the other's struggles and is always there to offer support. The repetition of "I will always come when you call me" reinforces the idea of loyalty and devotion, and the mention of paradise in the final line could suggest that being near this person is a form of heaven.
