Formed by singer, guitarist and songwriter Peter Case (who had previously fronted early new wave band The Nerves), the core lineup of the Plimsouls included Peter Case on vocals & Vox guitar, guitarist Eddie Munoz, bassist David Pahoa and drummer Lou Ramirez. The band's first release was an EP, Zero Hour in 1980, followed by a full length album in 1981, The Plimsouls. The band achieved its greatest notoriety in 1983 when the single release "A Million Miles Away" was included on the Valley Girl motion picture soundtrack and became a minor new wave rock radio hit. The band, which also appeared on camera in the movie, performing the song and parts of two others, quickly re-recorded the song for inclusion on a second album, Everywhere At Once, but broke up shortly after. Brilliantly produced by bassist Jeff Eyrich who went on to join the jazz combo Dave's True Story, Everywhere At Once has since come to be regarded as a power-pop classic. Case continued with a solo career while pursuing his interests in music history. In 1996, The Plimsouls reunited for a few shows and some recording sessions, resulting in a little-heard reunion album called Kool Trash which featured an appearance by Blondie drummer Clem Burke. They have continued to reunite occasionally since that time.

Excellent band,never got the air play they deserve because most radio stations played the same 20 songs over and over. I never hear this on the radio anymore,but you will hear a song from the same year that sucks and they still play it all the time.

The Plimsouls actually opened for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers at Irvine Meadows (which became Verizon) Amphitheater in 1983. They were great.

I was fortunate to be in a band that opened for these guys at a club called La Vida Hot springs after they put out Million miles. It was a good nite for me. I heard their downfall was due to drugs but that's just a rumor.

I was a drummer for the band "Section 8" in the 80's from Upland, Ca. we opended for the Plimsouls in Mt Baldy at the Lodge as well as lots of Local bands, I was allways a big fan this is my Favorit song, thanks for posting., we need some "Stepmothers" or "Unforgiven" some of steves stuff.

It got airplay, but it wasn’t a “hit” per se. I listened to a radio station called KROQ in LA and this was played a lot. My friends and I loved it, and cover bands played this at our high school dances. It’s one of my favorites of theirs. ✌🏼💖

91x in san Diego went new wave and played the fringe bands and I loved this band. When I was young I went on a Plimsoul binge evey memorial day weekend. Met a girl every weekend for four years straight and ended in a nights of two dates in the same night . Came a cross this 30 years later hmmmm

Sorry it took so long to reply, just been busy. Yes that was a very cool part of my life I dug it, The Plimsouls are timeless, we opened fro a lot of bands that were good, a band caled Rialto a one hit wonder that I thought would go really far but oh well, they are on You Tube check them out "Monday morning " is a great song, kinda Maroon 5 sound. theres a lot of talent out there. oh well take care bro.

Dude does look a lot like Joaquin, for sure. His name is David O Pahoa. To the left is Eddie Muñoz, above is Lou Ramirez, and, of course, Peter Case front and center. I think those glasses were the ones that got broken at the show I went to (w/2 sets from Los Lobos at Madame Wong's Chinatown) back in March 1983. Soy muy vieja, eck.

Whoever invented the ..power pop ...word needs to know that we,who were there...when the new wave came to LA and punk,also,and British new wave,punk,all at the same general time 1977,1978,1970,1980,81,82,etc we,who were raised on corporate rock, like led Zeppelin,EMBRACEF new wave and punk and NEVER called it power pop.the term DID NOT EXIST
