2) The Rebels were a 60's garage rock band from Iran.
Before Prince formed The Time, he considered using his backing band as a side-project called The Rebels. The 1979 project was a group effort, with songs being written and sung by the various members. Andre Cymone and Dez Dickerson each contributed material and a few numbers were sung by Gayle Chapman. The project was eventually shelved but two of the songs composed by Prince were re-recorded and released much later: "If I Love U 2 Night" by Mica Paris (and later by Prince's wife-to-be Mayte Garcia) and "U" by Paula Abdul. The original Prince guide vocal for "If I Love U 2 Nite" appeared by mistake on the rare Mica Paris 'Stand For Love' EP, of which only a handful exist.
3) The Rebels were the Prague (Czech republic) group, founded in July 1967 Korn (vocals, guitar) and Svatopluk Cech, brother Frantisek Ringo Cech (vocals, bass guitar). The Rebels played in the "west-coast style" with elements of "Britain's Mersey sound".

Everybody Should Love You
The Rebels Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
If you had to cut them from your shroud
If you found someone to sooth your dreamings
Would you smile, is happiness allowed?
And I know, and I know, and I know you...
And I want, and I want, and I want you...
Everybody should love you
Everybody should love everybody!
Do you hide when other swans are shining?
Did you smash your mirror on the ground?
Did they tell you beauty is conforming?
Do they think that reading books is sad?
In The Rebels' song Everybody Should Love You, the lyrics are about finding happiness and acceptance. The first verse asks if the person is willing to reveal their inner turmoil and let someone help them through it. The line, "If you had to cut them from your shroud," suggests that the person has been hiding their feelings and is now willing to show vulnerability. The second half of the verse asks if the person is willing to accept happiness if it comes their way. The line, "Would you smile, is happiness allowed?" suggests that the person may have some emotional barriers preventing them from feeling joy.
The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "Everybody should love you" three times. This line could be interpreted as the singer's desire for the person to be universally loved and accepted. It could also be interpreted as the person's own desire for self-love and self-acceptance.
The second verse delves into societal pressures and expectations. The first line, "Do you hide when other swans are shining?" suggests that the person may feel overshadowed by others who appear more confident or successful. The next line, "Did you smash your mirror on the ground?" could be interpreted as a metaphor for destroying one's own self-image due to societal pressures to conform to beauty standards. The line, "Do they think that reading books is sad?" suggests that the person's interests or hobbies may not align with what society deems as cool or desirable.
Overall, the lyrics of Everybody Should Love You convey the message of self-acceptance and the desire for universal love and acceptance.
