The Saboteurs is also the name that The Raconteurs adopted for the Australian market after a legal dispute arose with an existing Queensland band called The Raconteurs.

Help me get in touch with what I feel
'Cause you understand and you sympathize
And you know me best it's not surprise
When you're with me there's a light and I can see my way
When you speak to me it's a song and I know what to say
Help me find the good that's inside me
'Cause you're the only one who really knows
How the feeling comes and why it goes
When you're with me there's a light and I can see my way
When you speak to me it's a song and I know what to say
[repeat]
When you listen there's a hope and I know I'm being hurt
When you smile at me and I know and we don't have to speak a word
When you're with me there's a light and I can see my way
When you speak to me it's a song and I know what to say
The Saboteurs' song "Hands" is a love ballad that expresses deep love and appreciation for a significant other or a partner who plays a pivotal role in helping the other connect with their feelings and the world around them. Throughout the song, the singer expresses gratitude to the partner who is always there to understand, empathize and sympathize with them, and who helps them see things more clearly.
The opening lines of the song, "Girl you got those hands that heal, Help me get in touch with what I feel," suggests that the singer feels lost, and doesn't know how to cope with their emotions. They may have been struggling with issues of trust, vulnerability, or self-doubt, but they have found solace in the palpable healing touch of their partner. The singer is yearning to connect and touch their emotions, but their partner acts as the medium to help them do so.
The song continues to portray how the singer relies on their partner's eyes to help them see the good inside them when they can't. The partner serves as a beacon of hope and is the only one who truly understands the complexities of the singer's emotions. The lyrics communicate the message that when their partner is around, the singer is grounded and feels like they have a solid foundation to stand on. Their words and their smile serve as a compass, guiding the singer in the right direction, even when words aren't enough.
Overall, "Hands" by The Saboteurs is a heartfelt tribute to the love that makes a person feel complete. Partners have the power to see the beauty in someone when they can't, and support them through their most vulnerable moments. The song highlights that in relationships, we can become better versions of ourselves when we find someone who understands us and helps us navigate our emotions.

I don't think Brendan gets enough credit in this band. Let's not forget he cowrote all of the songs with Jack and did a wicked job of singing lead vocals half the time. And also he's great at backing up when Jack sings lead.

captaingymshorts: I agree. Therefore, he gets plenty of credit from me! It's funny, though - Brendan and Jack sound eerily similar at times. The whole band is amazing, and wouldn't be the same with any one of the members removed. Also, Patrick Keeler is just ridiculously underrated as a drummer. He is outstanding!

i think this is one of the greatest love songs (lyrically). If you just listen to the metaphors they are amazing. This is also a very beautiful video.
