Great plants btw I've noticed the more I try and tweek things it goes wrong but when I first grew I just bought basic compost with a feed once a week and a bit of guano in flower and they came out great but the more I tried to learn I think it just overcomplicates things... best advice I've heard online so far!

In regards to nutes. My first grow got stunted around week 5 flower. I was applying nutes every second day in a soil/coco mix. When I finally checked the pH it was around 4.5. This grow I'm feeding once every week. Started to look at the pH a lot more and using filtered water. The Ca/Mg deficiencies are almost gone. Big learning curve indoor vs outdoor.

Took me awhile to change my habits but your spot on. Overwater and then scratch your head thinking what am I doing wrong ? Deficiencies? Nope overwatering 👍. I’ll keep watching to keep reminding of the results you can achieve without over pushing everything. Just let them grow !!!

Where I live we have 12 hours day and 12 hours dark year round. I just harvested 2 plants. Grew on the patio, no artificial light, just the 12/12 schedule from day one. They grew about 5 ft high and were very scraggly. I got about an ounce total. Now starting a few more plants. What I am trying this time is to put them on the patio when I get up in the morning, then when it gets dark, I put them under lights in the spare room. They're less than a week old right now. I will do this for the next 6 weeks or so, at which time I will move to the patio until harvest.
Great tips for watering on the video!
Because of the heat on the cement patio (it's inside the house), first time around It was the rainy season. Rain every day, usually twice a day. The soil never really dried out, maybe that's why the plants were scraggly? Now starting the dry season mid November, no rain after that until next May. Hopefully I will have a better harvest! I would appreciate any advice for growing in my situation with the 12/12 light schedule year round.

G'day mate how you doing man? Well what can I say except your SPOT ON mate what a great upload for learners & experienced growers it's a must to learn this method ive been doing it for years now since I switched from DWC to Coco. Also just quickly, when growing in Coco & hand feeding your basically flushing the Coco and enriching the roots with fresh oxygen each feed ive noticed. Basically whet he is saying is if your plants root system is still small & you over water or feed it to much the root system is to small to take up all the water n food & it won't dry out the pot because the roots can't grow in those Mudd like conditions. When I transplant to my final I always cut an X into each side of the root ball so that the roots grow in a way that fills the whole pot & not just pile up at the bottom & grow in circles around the base of the pot & I always check the roots b4 I repot it to see if the roots have that fur like hair growing off the main roots & no dead or rotting roots anywhere then I repot into Coco that I have flushed with half streath nutrient afew days b4 so that the roots can sence food all around them & grow straight into the new medium. I like the roots to fill the pot from the top to bottom with some air roots coming off the man Stem & into the medium. Again great vid man you are totally correct SO listen to this bloke ok all you guys that are just learning & the established growers take note. Thanks again cheers man have a DANK DAY🤤💨💨💨

I always water when they need, and I always water where it never gives run off (once in awhile I'll water from tray and let soak up). I use nutes every other watering (depending on stage of growth) and the nutes are always less quantity than they say on the bottle (about 1/3 less) because I believe they don't need to be added to the craziness I see in the instructions. I think the companies just want you back buying more because you will run out faster lol. A 3 bottle General Hydroponics should last like 6-10 years if done right, and not the crazy amount they suggest, which shall give nitrogen toxicity amongst other problems guaranteed.

I can't help but notice the side by the fan is generally larger. You said you have to come in two days before watering the tent and give those couple plants some water right in the bottom of the tray cause they dry out faster. We know from experience and from watching the Grow Boss that cannabis likes a nice dry cycle, during the dry cycle we get a lot of growth. I bet if you had another fan on the other side of your tent ''the right side in the video'' those plants would grow a bit faster same as the ones on the left. Maybe even a small 8 inch oscillating clip on to a pole type of fan would do. Let me know your thoughts. And thanks for the videos, I love seeing people do stuff right' besides myself. :p

Wait until the leaves slightly droop then journal it, and water one day earlier. The pot should be light to the touch when you pick it up.

SIR! Where have you been all my growing years! (Just 6years of them) but I appreciate the REALTALK. There is very little info on watering. I've been messing with this for the past couple grows now & see better results in the "not watered often plant" but still eachisown & everyone's growing is different. Cheers

Whenever I water my plants seem over watered. I've been too scared to water until runoff because as I said... they always seem over watered. This is whether the plants are in solos or 1-5gallon fabric pots. Sometimes my soil gets so dry it will literally create dust if I break it up. The roots when I transplant are white and fuzzy for the most part (not all tbh) but there's a decent amount and they are very white and fuzzy.
Should I start watering from the bottom? How can I create more branching on my plants? How much water do they need because even when the pots are light I still seem to overwater.

You also have to top/fim to create more branches it will make it grow wide with more coalas rather than tall with one big one

I couldn't agree with you more I've been using Happy Frog from Fox Farm for vegetative growth and superthrive and RO water pH balance about 6.5 and nothing else.Water the plants may be every five days in the three gallon pots.👍👍

I've been using M3 super soil ever since I started growing. The beginning of 2020 I switched to foxfarm Ocean Forest and their liquid trio soil nute pack (Grow Big, Big Bloom and Tiger Bloom) there is a huge difference with watering this soil when compared to the super soil. For some reason I can not water them correctly. They are in a deck flower pot that square and a little over 5 gallons. After my first run that barely produced a once of finished product, I switched my watering to only half a qt every other day. Only problem is no runoff. I'm just so lost on this over watering or how much to give this new soil.... I have two more runs using that soil to get it right before I just go back to super soil, any tips/suggestions? @Jay Bird people grow outdoors in the winter successfully all the time , even here in uk with rain all winter . as long as maintained and managed correctly , it can be pulled off. cannabis is one of the most resilient plants

@Welcome to The GrowTent environment is important. Once you've grown for a while, it should be easy as pie to have a good grow environment. To hot, plants burn and release more water causing your medium to dry out quicker as well as the plants. Too cold and your plants growth slows or stops. Too humid your plant can not get rid of moisture absorbed from the roots putting it in a locked state. Not humid enough and your plants uptake more and if feeding this can cause nute burn or lockout leading to nute deficiencies. Your grow environment is as important as the water you use to feed. You can be doing everything right but with a bad environment you'll run into issues. Now in order for these things to happen, those conditions have to be on the extreme side. Humidity for instance has a big "acceptable" range. Same goes for Temps. You threw me off with the comment "environment doesn't matter" when I just watched videos of your stating the importance of fans and exhaust in your grow. Saying you don't want stagnant air sitting around. Thats environment your talking about. I do over think a lot of things like this watering with nutes. Your the first person I've heard say it is OK if you have 5-6 days between watering/feeding. I like your videos and the information your providing as its been the most straight forward I've seen yet. However I must disagree with your feelings on growing environment. Its very important as I can just grow pot outside in the open durring winter. It wouldn't grow cause its not the right environment. @Jay Bird You are focusing way to hard on the details. the environment, temp and relative humidity dont really matter that much or really at all. My plants will be just as big in 30% RH as they are at 65% RH. As for the watering. if you are seeing clawing on the leaves, they are being over watered. end of story. the finger in the soil means NOTHING at all. the ONLY way to tell if its time to water is to lift the pot. if its like picking up nothing at all, its time to water. if it feels heavy AT ALL, do not water it. Stop switching equipment, it will all grow great cannabis. I grow monsters with freaking T5 lights.

@Welcome to The GrowTent just finished watching it. Its just the same as every other video/article about runoff. I know what it all means but my issue is with the plant after this watering/feeding. I water till I get runoff (about 10-15%) then the plants look over watered. There is never a 20 min after feeding and the plant looks good again. As a matter of fact, the plant stays looking over watered and even develops clawing starting with lower leaves. I thought, "maybe I'm feeding to much and next I will see burnt tips and yellowing leaves." But that never happens! They just claw and look sad. I had one plant go over a month without water. I lift my pots and do the finger soil check. It was more like 2 months without watering but still. I know other factors come into play when it comes to your plants uptake of both water and nutes. I have all that down almost to a T. My humidity levels and Temps depending on its growth stage and size, are not off more or less than 3. I PH and use a ppm meter. Oh, and the fans/exhaust carbon filter. All I do know is I am tired of all these different people/sites that keep saying "this is what you need to do and how to do it!" And you would think they should have some similarities but no, not really. In fact, I noticed with all my research, these guys contradict each other. All that does is further confuse new growers. Its just like that old saying, "Too many Chiefs, not enough Indians." But "there's more than one way to skin a cat" just makes the topic of growing cannabis a nightmare! A perfect example is how I thought my neighbor to grow. I only used super soil at the time but I told him everything I knew at that time. He decided to go with Foxfarm Ocean Forest and their liquid tro soil pack for nutes. His plants were always monters! Seeing this difference, I switched and did everything like he was but mine turned out worse than any super soil run I have done. (No its not genetics. I know because he gets his beans from me and I'm running the same as I give him) His grow environment is way worse than mine on top of all that. He even had a fan blowing in the same spot the whole grow and still got a lot of flower and it was gas! In my conclusion, I've been growing for almost 6 years now. I make my own feminized seeds and crosses yet I'm so lost right now! Its like I'm a new grower all over again and just keep messing things up. Where are the right answers!? Where is the black and white instructions on this plant? Idk anymore smh

I agree with what you are saying about watering and when to do it, however, I fail to see how over watering has anything to do with how many tops you get. That all comes down to topping and although you don't agree with it....I absolutely insist that LST is the right way to go. I have also grown some monster plants...pulling well over 3lbs dry from 5 plants in my tent using quantum board lights. The reason I got so many tops and such great growth was absolutely because of proper Low Stress Training.

It has more to due with over watering. If you over water the plant won't branch and will come out looking like a palm tree.

Basically don't give your plants water if u want them to grow I've just started doing this I only water when pot is really light dry and leafs are just starting to barely droop then I add just a lil bit more water. Great 👍 video on point.

Pot size and so on….. there’s so many variables at play, each thing needs to be broken down to it’s specific options. Like super soils are totally different to grow in compared to coco or rockwool, then add in pot sizes and like I said, it’s different for each situation. Being these things he’s saying goes right with many things that are grown in the vegetable world as well as the cannabis, I’m a veggie grower but always watch vids on grows, especially cannabis because there’s so many different styles, it’s about choosing the one that you wanna attempt to work with and hopefully master. My obvious question is, if I’m in a larger pot that is holding water and doesn’t dry out for a week more, do I then only feed nutrients every other feed? That would only be like 2 feedings a month. Some nutrients only call for a 2 week feed period. Lol.

How much water do you feed your plants (veg/vs. flower) in 3 gallon containers. I am on my first grow with White Widow as well, and have them in 5 gallon containers. I only have 3 plants in a 4x4 tent and have topped them twice and I am training them as well. Also, what medium are you using? I am using Coco Coir (Fox Farm Coco Loco). But I am only watering 2 sometimes 3 times a week. Please let me know your feedback. I just subscribed.

I agree with almost everything besides you need to spend a little more time trimming back some of that lower foliage, you’re preventing air circulation from maximizing the plants growing potential and that also blocks light from directly reaching the other half of your buds. By trimming the extra leaves you save your plant the extra work from producing and maintaining unnecessary fan leaves, and it also tells your plant to focus its energy on the buds. All while allowing more air to penetrate the surface of the dirt, helping supply oxygen to the roots which increases yield exponentially

letting plants get that dry can negatively affect yield. Depending how much water you give when you water periodically like you are talking about, you may start to see a decrease in your N%. Watch That N value and make sure you are watering before wilt rolls around.

Frequent less watering results in shallow root growth not encouraging the roots to go deeper seeking nutrients and promoting a larger root ball. The size of the root structure directly relates to the plant size and with training and topping will promote flower production.

Have you ever tried to top the budz like a week before today, to see if they'd widen? I did a while back but they were only about 10cms and then they didn't turn into nice colas , i think topping at 30cms might make a nice fat cola, what do you think?

This makes sense. The whole "stick your finger an inch into the soil" to test for dryness seems like it would lead to way too much watering

You can get the same yield or more with the right root growth with 1-2 plants bruh. Still looks good congrats. But it’s all about quality not quantity for us. ✌🏼
