It's Only Love
The Silencers Lyrics

Oh, yeah
I can't be happy
If your not happy
I can't understand the world
I can't bale out
Around this fall-out
I don't want to make you angry, no, no
I don't want to mess you up, no, no
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright
It's only love
Yeah
I can't be helpful
If your sad and tearful
I can't make the minutes fun
I bring this indecision
To your velvet prison
I can't make the minutes fun
I don't want to make you angry, no, no
I don't want to piss you off, no, no
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright
It's only love
Well, it's the strangest thing
That when I look behind me
Our friends are in a ring
While we throw our things away
Whoo-hoo
I don't wanna make you angry, no, no
I don't want to piss you off, no, no
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright
It's only love
Love, love, love
It's only love
The Silencers's song "It's Only Love" is a slow tempo ballad sung by the lead singer Jimme O'Neill. The lyrics are about a relationship where the singer is powerless to make their partner happy. The lyrics suggest that the singer believes that love can overcome any issue, no matter how complicated things seem. The opening verse sets up the sadness of the relationship, stating that if the partner is unhappy, then the singer cannot be happy, and the world doesn't make sense. The chorus reinforces the theme of the song, that "It's only love," and that everything is somehow okay because of the love between the two.
The second verse of the song goes into further detail about the difficulties within the relationship. The singer can't make their partner happy or bring joy to their life. In contrast, everything is characterized by indecision and sadness. However, despite the challenges, the love between the two seems to be enough, and the chorus repeats, "It's only love." The ending of the song provides a strange twist. "It's the strangest thing that when I look behind me, our friends are in a ring while we throw our things away." It's unclear exactly what this means, but it suggests that despite the challenges in the relationship, the love between the two has brought them together and united them against the world.

John :-) A PLEASURE, and thanks for taking the SECONDS to write your appreciation OF such a good band, agreed. Me too, have most of their stuff to '95, not so keen thereafter on their folky stuff to be honest. Your subscription is most welcome. Ta, very much. Stephen.
