The Smoke Lyrics

Said yer leaving
What yer meaning

Love begins when I rise on a morning
You turn me off like a light without warning
You never seem to treat me right
Your hurtin' me both day and night
I can't find the expression
You just caused my depression

It's just your way of lovin'
It's just your way of lovin'
It's just your way of lovin'

I take you home from a dance in the nightime
With you [or We view?] the moon and the stars ain't the right time
Your hurtin' me and I must confess
You got my mind in an awful mess

You got everything for me
All you done girl is told me

It's just your way of lovin'
It's just your way of lovin'
It's just your way of lovin'

When I'm feeling blue
I don't know what to do
You never even try
I always seem to end up crying

It's just your way of lovin'
It's just your way of lovin'
It's just your way of lovin'

Said your leaving
What yer meaning

Love begins when I rise on a morning
You turn me off like a light without warning
You never seem to treat me right
Your hurtin' me both day and night

I can't find the expression
You just caused my depression

It's just your way of lovin'
It's just your way of lovin'
It's just your way of lovin'
It's just your way of lovin'

It's just your way of lovin'
It's just your way of lovin'

Overall Meaning

The Smoke's song "It's Just Your Way of Lovin'" is a melancholic, yet catchy tune that speaks of the singer's tumultuous relationship with their love interest. The lyrics talk about how the singer's love begins to grow when they wake up in the morning, but their partner turns them off without any warning, leading them to feel hurt and depressed. The singer can't find the expression to convey their pain, and they are left with a feeling of confusion and sadness.

The chorus of the song, "It's just your way of lovin'," is repeated three times, which suggests that the singer has come to terms with the fact that their lover's erratic behavior is part of their character. The song speaks about the cyclical nature of their relationship, where the singer is often left feeling hurt and confused after each encounter. The lyrics also touch upon the fact that the two of them share fond memories together, such as leaving a dance together, yet the troubles of their relationship always seem to creep back in.

Overall, "It's Just Your Way of Lovin'" is a poignant song that captures the rollercoaster of emotions that can come with a turbulent relationship. It highlights the pain that can come from loving someone who doesn't treat you the way you deserve, and yet the singer's love for their partner persists despite the hardship.

I am. I'm 67. I had a sister who was 17 years older than me. She had Platters albums. When she married and left home, she left her albums behind. I would listen to them over and over. I loved those songs as a little child and to this day, I get a thrill when I hear them. Thanks Sissy for turning me on to such great music.

My parents and most of their generation are gone but the wonderful music of their era was gifted to us as a timeless echo of their presence.

My sister was 17 & pregnant when this record came out, she was so scared, everything worked out, I play it now just to think about her, she will be 76 on March 6 of this month, that baby she was so scared with has gone to live with the Lord, she kept him & gave him a good life❤
