In 2003, The Soviettes released the first album, entitled LP, on Adeline Records of Oakland, California. The album's sound was described as "fuzzy, punky, stripped, and ballsy." In 2004, the band released their second album, entitled LP II, again on Adeline Records. LP II was described as having "more bratty, fast-action" songs. The band was then noticed by Fat Wreck Chords in San Francisco, California and was shortly after signed with the label. The band released the song Paranoia! Cha-Cha-Cha for the Fat Wreck Chords compilation album Rock Against Bush, Vol. 1. On June 28, 2005, the band's third and final album, entitled LP III, was released on Fat Wreck Chords. On November 15, 2005, LP was re-released by Crustacean Records.
In the last half of 2005, The Soviettes toured with Against Me!, The Epoxies, and Smoke or Fire on their first tour under the Fat Wreck Chords label.
The Soviettes have been on haitus since early 2006 due to the stress of touring constantly. Susy has since moved to California while Annie and Danny formed the band Awesome Snakes who played their last show on March 19, 2010 in St. Paul, Minesota.
Don't Say No
The Soviettes Lyrics

You gotta pick it up-take these shoes
In the back of the club the rain's making me numb
I watched you pull two from your pocket
Well oh my God you just cut the wires in my head and brain's disconnected too
Well gimme the keys to your car, I'll give you 125 on that back of the bus to:
Don't say no right now!
One trap on the left-the other's to the right
These kids won't wait
It's always too late and by the way you can never sell it back to 'em
One shot to your brain-the other's to your heart
And nothings like "as seen on tv" now
Well gimme the keys to your house
2 stacks of 45's and I'm turning off the lights now:
Don't say no right now!
In The Soviettes' song Don't Say No, the lyrics talk about feeling disconnected from reality. It starts with the singer repeating multiple times that they do not know something, indicating a lack of understanding or confusion. The second line seems to be a plea for someone to take charge and make a decision. The third line is interesting because it sets the scene in the back of a club while it is raining and making the singer "numb." This line is powerful because it could be interpreted as referring to both the physical numbness as well as an emotional numbness or feeling disassociated from the situation. The next line reveals someone reaching into their pocket and taking out two items, which could be drugs or money.
The next verse talks about a choice between two traps and how time is running out for the decision. The line "It's always too late and by the way you can never sell it back to 'em" implies that there is no going back after taking the wrong path. The next line about one shot to the brain and the other to the heart could be interpreted as the two paths, one leading to mental destruction and the other leading to emotional destruction. The chorus repeats a request to not say no and then ends with the line about turning off the lights, which could be metaphorical for ending one chapter and starting a new one.
