At the fall of 2000 Mike Dungeon wrote the first Spookshow song "Now I Scream" (will be released on Chapter 3) Strongly influenced by Misfits. By this time the band was not formed yet. Mike was writing on his own without any further plans on starting a new band since he already had a hardcore band that took a lot of his time.
A bit later Mike Dungeon and he's brother Knife Dungeon sat down together to jam. Mike showed him the songs though they where both really in to the old punk rock and it turned out that they where writing music in the same way. It was really hard to tell which brother wrote which song. They continued to write songs. Not together though. They recorded the songs on their computers and changed CD's with each other.
Sometime in 2002 Mike decided to put a band together for the first time. The first line-up looked like this:
Mike Dungeon - Guitar
Wolverine Blues - Bass
Deadbeat - Drums
Laura Weed - Lead vocals
Knife Dungeon - Guitar
During the summer of 2002 The Spookshow recorded two demo cd's: "Hellolulia" and "Back in Hell". Both cd's including seven songs each. The band did one show together at Halloween 2002. After this the band where put on ice by a number of reasons.
Mike and Knife continued to write a lot material and somewhere in 2003 Mike decided to write enough material to fill out three albums and releasing them as a trilogy. Their old website was still out on the net and people from all over the world downloaded their demo songs.
The band was really dead until the spring of 2005 when Mike and Knife realized that they had enough material to fill out three albums... and more. Mike decided to change his life and left his old band and started to put the band together again. He wanted to dedicate he's heart and time to The Spookshow only. This time the line-up looked different:
Miss Behave - Lead vocals
Mike Dungeon - Guitar
Deadbeat - Drums
Knife Dungeon - Guitar
Carol Anne - Bass
Laura Weed and Wolverine left the band and where shortly after that replaced.
The Spookshow signed on too Crypt of Blood Records late summer of 2005 and the first album "Psychosexual Chapter 1" will be out November 1st 2005. Chapter 2 in November 2006 and Chapter 3 in November 2007.
Carry Me Home
The Spookshow Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And I love him so
He's everything I ever wished for
My baby and I we are madly in love
Kill me and desecrate my body
Carry me home, carry me home
Kill me and violate my body
He's a cold blooded murderer
And I love him so
He's everything I ever wished for
My baby and I we are madly in love
Kill me and desecrate my body
Carry me home, carry me home
Kill me and violate my body
Carry me home, carry me home
Carry me home, carry me home
Carry me home, carry me home
Carry me home
The lyrics of The Spookshow's song Carry Me Home seem to bring out a very macabre and twisted sense of love where the singer expresses their love for someone who is a cold-blooded murderer. Despite knowing the truth, the singer seems to be infatuated with this individual and believes that they are everything they have ever wished for. The lyrics suggest that despite the gruesome nature of this individual's actions, the singer cannot resist their love and their dark desires.
The lines "Kill me and desecrate my body, carry me home" and "Kill me and violate my body, carry me home" are incredibly disturbing and seem to suggest that the singer wants to become a victim of this murderer. The song raises some unsettling questions about love, obsession, and devotion. It seems to suggest that love can make us blind to the evil in individuals we care for, and that some people are willing to do anything to be with the ones they love, even if it means sacrificing their own lives.
Overall, the lyrics of Carry Me Home are deeply disturbing and make for a haunting listen. It seems to speak to a very specific kind of love that is entirely out of the ordinary and perhaps even dangerous.
