The Ride
The Strive Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

So let′s start over forget about everything we know
I've been joined by inspirations sticking through my own frustrations
I feel the summer breeze slip away from a place called home
Surrounded by people I can′t relate to
You know I won't hesitate to just pack my bags and go
'Cause I′m running for the road
Hold on tight, enjoy the ride
I′m less than perfect now, but soon you'll be on my side
These white lines blowing with the tide
And I′m crashing to the shore while I'm searching for something more
I′m sick of everyone thinking I'll forget them when I′m gone
How could I ever forget when it was you who wrote the songs
My friends stand right beside me, they know just where to find me
Through all the times I lost my
Manners, somewhere between red and into yellow
Hold on tight, enjoy the ride
I'm less than perfect now, but soon you'll be on my side
These white lines blowing with the tide
And I′m crashing to the shore while I′m searching for something more
They say that all men die, but none'll truly live
I′ve come so far to fight I was meant for this, I was meant for this
They say that all men die, but none'll truly live
We′ve come so far to fight we were
Meant for this, we were meant for this
Hold on tight, enjoy the ride
I'm less than perfect now, but soon you′ll be on my side

These white lines blowing with the tide
And I'm crashing to the shore while I'm searching for something more

Overall Meaning

The Strive's song, The Ride, delves into the theme of self-discovery and finding one's place in the world. The song encourages us to start anew, forgetting everything we know and embrace the opportunity to begin again. The lyrics suggest that inspiration can be found within oneself, and despite any frustrations, one should not give up.

The line "Surrounded by people I can't relate to" signifies the conflict and dissonance that can arise when we find ourselves in spaces where we do not belong. Even though it's difficult to leave, the singer asserts that they won't hesitate to pack their bags and go. The next stanza suggests that the journey ahead might not be easy, and the singer might face stumbling blocks. However, they urge the listener to "hold on tight" and "enjoy the ride."

The chorus features the repetition of "I'm less than perfect now, but soon you'll be on my side," which could be interpreted as an invitation for the listener to inspire and hold their hand as they navigate through the struggles of life. The song wraps up by urging us to keep fighting and searching for something more, as all men die, but not all truly live.

Cinematic supers are HARD HITTING.

TheSIlverSurfer

Chipp sounds like a typical anime protagonist. Which is pretty good since he's a foreigner trying to be Japanese.

Jose Enrico Maniwang

Still doesn't fit me. At this point, Chipp would have ingrained a more Japanese tone in his voice after a while.

G Cal

@Jose Enrico Maniwang you neglect that Japan has been destroyed and that there are like very few Japanese people left, like Baiken and Anji were the only ones pretty much

Jose Enrico Maniwang

@G Cal sorry i didnt delve much into the lore...

Super Muslim

Nick Andrews

They did Potemkin justice

I would say it's a 50/50, in one of the two voice lines for HPB he sounds a little weak, but in this one, well, its very good

Wesley Bravo

No way. It's not nearly as good as his Japanese voice actor. The English voice actor doesn't put nearly as much oomph into it.
