The first three electric eels songs is some of the most blistering and violent music ever recorded (even by their incredibly high standards)! You could power a city with the sheer energy contained within "Wreck & Roll"!

I'm so glad Morton suppressed this version of Spin Age Blasters. There's a difference between presentation and endorsement, but here, the eels clearly fall into the latter. The fact it was for shock value doesn't change much.

Yeah... that’s the very unfortunate downside of political ‘satire’ post 1960’s, that nobody ever talks about. Trying to make fun of racism by being purposely overly racist defeats the point imo. It’s especially worse here since the Eels always went out of their way to be ‘dark’ and ‘edgy’.

Edit: I hadn’t even listened to all of this fully before typing that above, but Jesus Christ they are way too egregious with it. Completely unwarranted.

Its just a word. an offensive one but i word goddamn

@@johndoeiii6103 I mean obviously kicking a baby is worse than saying the n word, but saying the n word generally is in worse taste than talking about those other concepts. It makes the song completely unlistenable just as old cartoons with blackface are unwatchable. It's offensive in a way that conforms to the ingrained racism in the US, not in a way that breaks out of it.

Not everyone is so fragile that someone saying a racially offensive word is somehow worse that talking about murder and infanticide...it's just funny you picked that out to be the most offensive thing about the record when if you think about it there whole concept was misanthropy an hated for humanity...is that not more offensive then saying you know what? I hate the whole punching up/punching down way people want to look at everything now...so you can't say anything negative about one of those groups or you are "punching down" and that's bad....its just stupid. It makes shit just suck tbh

@@johndoeiii6103 I'm fragile because I think it's in bad taste to yell the n word as a white dude? I pick it out because it's a shitty attached to the continued oppression of an entire race. Of course I think it's bad to generalize anything about a race of people, it's toxic and has no place in good art. I'd rather have an overarching concept of hating humanity than picking out certain races of people. There's a lot to hate about humanity even within ourselves, but using that slur is completely unnecessary.
