*(John Reis band) Read Full Bio ↴There are three bands with the name The Sultans.
*(John Reis band)
The music is really stripped-down post-punk with a twist of rockabilly.
Formed in 2000 and disbanded January 10th, 2007.
Started as a side project when John Reis had time off from one of his other bands at the time, Rocket From the Crypt. They recorded two albums, 'Ghost Ship' (2000) and 'Shipwrecked' (2004) both released on Swami Records.
John's little brother Dean, who is one of the coolest guys on the planet (fact and opinion) is also in the band.
Members:
Slasher (j.reis)- lead vocals, guitar (and bass from '00-'03)
Black Velvet (d.reis)- bass, backing vocals (2003-2007)
Black Flame (a.stamets)- guitar (2000-2003)
Tony DiPrima- drums, backing vocals (2000-2006)

*The Sultans - Finnish two-man blues band with Läjä Äijälä (Terveet Kädet, The Leo Bugariloves, Aavikon kone ja moottori, The Kolmas, Billy Boys) on guitar and vocals and M. Leinonen on drums.
The Sultans of Ping F.C. also released an album under the name The Sultans. It was their third album Good Year for Trouble.

The lyrics to The Sultans's song "So Far Away" depict the artist's desire for a different life, one that they imagine and aspire to achieve. They express a longing for success and wealth, praying for blessings and seeking ways to make money. The lyrics also touch on the challenges faced when one is broke, highlighting how people tend to disregard and overlook them. However, as the artist's financial situation improves, they find themselves with a high net worth, experiencing a significant transformation in their life.
Throughout the song, the artist emphasizes the uncertainty of the future, emphasizing that nobody knows what tomorrow holds. They also urge listeners to be aware of both their family and their enemies, recognizing that people will always be curious about their possessions and achievements. The artist then contrasts this with the desire to live the life they imagine, enjoying the luxuries and pleasures that come with success. They further emphasize their disdain for haters and fakers, urging them to stay away and not come close.
The lyrics portray a sense of confidence and triumph as the artist reflects on the journey from humble beginnings to global recognition. Despite the challenges faced, they exude a sense of pride in their accomplishments and emphasize their determination to continue enjoying the good life they have attained.

So Far Away
Here I am again in this mean old town
And you're so far away from me
And where are you when the sun go down?
You're so far away from me
You're so far away from me
So far I just can't see
You're so far away from me
You're so far away from me, alright
I'm tired of bein' in love and bein' all alone
When you're so far away from me
I'm tired of makin' out on the telephone
'Cause you're so far away from me
You're so far away from me
You're so far I just can't see
You're so far away from me
You're so far away from me, alright
And I get so tired when I have to explain
When you're so far away from me
See you've been in the sun and I've been in the rain
And you're so far away from me
You're so far away from me
You're so far I just can't see
You're so far away from me
You're so far away from me, take it down
So far away from me
Oh, you're so far away from me
Yeah, you're so far away from me
So far away from me
You're so far... and you're so far away from me
You're so far... so far away from me
You're so far away from me
So far away from me
You're so far... so far away from me
So far away from me
You're so far... so far away from me
Alright
You're so far... you're just so far away from me

I dated a beautiful native american girl who had this long dark hair, and her name was April. We were 15-16 at the time, and we would listen to this on the way to the caves in Kirkland. Maybe she sees this and smiles wherever she is. This song hits my soul. I’m 40 these days.
@kimbam1282
