Girl You'll Be A Woman Soon
The Urge Overkill Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Girl, you'll be a woman soon
I love you so much, can't count all the ways
I've died for you, girl, and all they can say is
"He's not your kind"
You'll never get tired of putting me down
And I'll never know when I come around
What I'm gonna find
Don't let them make up your mind

Don't you know, girl, you'll be a woman soon
Please, come take my hand
Girl, you'll be a woman soon
Soon, you'll need a man

I've been misunderstood for all of my life
But what they're saying, girl, just cuts like a knife
"The boy's no good"
Well, I've finally found what I'm a-looking for
But if they get their chance they'll end it for sure
Surely would
Baby, I've done all I could

Now it's up to you, girl, you'll be a woman soon
Please, come take my hand
Girl, you'll be a woman soon
Soon, you'll need a man

Girl, you'll be a woman soon
Please, come take my hand
Girl, you'll be a woman soon
Soon but soon, you'll need a man

Girl, you'll be a woman soon
Please, come take my hand

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to "Girl You'll Be A Woman Soon" by Urge Overkill explore the complexity of an older man's relationship with a younger girl, who is transitioning into womanhood. The opening line "Girl, you'll be a woman soon" suggests an anticipation and excitement for the young girl's coming of age, and the potential for the relationship to evolve into a romantic one. However, the lyrics also reveal the challenges that the man faces as society deems him unworthy of the young woman. He has "died for" her but all they can say is that he's "not her kind." This line suggests disapproval from society for their relationship, perhaps due to the age difference, class or race.

The lyrics also touch on themes of insecurity and fear of rejection. The man faces constant criticism and judgement, and he's unsure what he'll find each time he comes around. He implores the young girl to not let others make up her mind and to take his hand, which suggests that he needs her love and support to navigate their relationship. Meanwhile, the repetition of "girl you'll be a woman soon" serves as a reminder that time is running out for them to be together in the way they desire.

Overall, this song is a reflection of the complexities of relationships and the societal expectations that often shape them. Despite the age difference and apparent disapproval from others, there is a sense of longing and urgency in the lyrics that captures the intensity of forbidden love.

One drink and that’s it. Don’t be rude. Drink your drink, but do it quickly. Say ‘goodnight’ and go home.
You see, this is a moral test of one’s self whether or not you can maintain loyalty because being loyal is very important.
So, you’re gonna go out there and you’re gonna say, ‘Goodnight, I've had a very lovely evening,’ walk out the door, get in the car, go home, jerk off and that’s all you're gonna do.

Dude you will never find a shortage of people out there looking for a reason to be offended and show their moral outrage, it makes them feel good about themselves even if they are a worthless POS. It allows people who do nothing to still feel good about themselves based on their own "feelings" and "views" while in reality their actions cause misery and ruin. It's a symptom of the mental illness that is liberalism and it destroys any thoughtful discourse or deep humor.
