HE SAID SHE SAID
The Vice Squad Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Do you ever stop to consider
All the damage that you do
When all your wicked whispers just ain't true

Can't turn my back incase you bite
Face to face you lose the fight
Your mind is closed - your mouth is open wide
He said, she said - He said, she said

Another lie to push us under
Your false witness takes the stand
He said, she said selling slander
Oh oh oh oh..

Does it ever make you wonder
If it's all just jealousy
Makes you sneer at what you'll never be

Got a bitter twisted tongue
You like to bad mouth everyone
Stirring trouble's your idea of fun

He said, she said - He said, she said

A love life of pure fabrication
Dine out on exaggeration
For dessert have someone's reputation

He said, she said - He said, she said

Overall Meaning

The Vice Squad's song He said she said is a commentary on the destructive effects of gossip and hearsay on relationships and reputations. The lyrics depict someone who is a notorious gossip and troublemaker, whose lies and rumors cause harm and damage to the people around them. The singer accuses this person of being jealous and bitter, possessing a twisted tongue and enjoying bad mouthing others. Through the lines, "Your mind is closed - your mouth is open wide" and "Stirring trouble's your idea of fun", the singer implies that the gossiper is knowingly causing chaos and conflict, purely for their own amusement.

The chorus, "He said, she said - He said, she said", highlights the cycle of hearsay and rumor, where people are more likely to believe lies when they are repeated by multiple sources. The lyrics suggest that this game of telephone can ruin relationships, careers, and even reputations. The verse, "For dessert have someone's reputation", underscores the fact that the consequences of slander and gossip can be long-lasting and severe.

Overall, He said she said is a cautionary tale about the damaging impact of idle gossip and spreading false information. The song emphasizes the importance of being mindful of how our words affect others and to not participate in the destructive cycle of rumors and hearsay.

For the record this was recorded at home on an 8 track tape machine with a fuzz box and a cheap microphone.. maybe I should take it as complement that it sounds over produced...:-) BTW over produced is two words x

zincbooster

aimed to sell, commercial pop sound, should not be using the band's punk name, it's deceiving.
