<… Read Full Bio ↴The Weeks are an indie rock band originally from Jackson, Mississippi.
The band was formed by Cain Barnes, Chaz Lindsay, Cyle Barnes, Damien Bone, and Samuel Williams in March of 2006 when they were between 14 and 16 years old. The band signed to the Esperanza Plantation label, with the debut album, Comeback Cadillac, released in July 2008. The album blended southern rock and alternative.
A second album, Rumspringa, followed in 2009. After some lineup changes that left them with a four piece of the Barnes twins, Bone and Williams, the band relocated to Nashville, TN. In March 2011, they returned to Water Valley, MS to work with Winn McElroy at his Black Wings Studio on the eight songs that encompass a 12" EP entitled, "Gutter Gaunt Gangster", out October 11, 2011 on Esperanza Plantation.
They spent the next six months touring with Junior Astronomers, Local H, North Mississippi All-Stars, and The Meat Puppets. After signing with Kings of Leon's new record label Serpents and Snakes, they re-released Gutter Gaunt Gangster September 25th, 2012.
Currently, the Weeks are anticipating a tour in the UK with KOL in the summer of 2013 and celebrating the accolades following the release of their current album, "Dear Bo Jackson".

Sleepin', you're on your tippy toes
Creepin' around like no one knows
Think you're so criminal
Bruises on both my knees for you
Don't say thank you or please
I do what I want when I'm wanting to
My soul? So cynical
Like it really rough guy
Just can't get enough guy
Chest always so puffed guy
I'm that bad type
Make your mama sad type
Make your girlfriend mad tight
Might seduce your dad type
I'm the bad guy, duh
I'm the bad guy
I like it when you take control
Even if you know that you don't
Own me, I'll let you play the role
I'll be your animal
My mommy likes to sing along with me
But she won't sing this song
If she reads all the lyrics
She'll pity the men I know
So you're a tough guy
Like it really rough guy
Just can't get enough guy
Chest always so puffed guy
I'm that bad type
Make your mama sad type
Make your girlfriend mad tight
Might seduce your dad type
I'm the bad guy, duh
I'm the bad guy, duh
I'm only good at being bad, bad
I like when you get mad
I guess I'm pretty glad that you're alone
You said she's scared of me?
I mean, I don't see what she sees
But maybe it's 'cause I'm wearing your cologne
I'm a bad guy
I'm, I'm a bad guy
Bad guy, bad guy
I'm a bad
The lyrics of the song "Bad Guy" by The Weeks describe a complex and edgy relationship dynamic between two individuals. The opening lines "White shirt now red, my bloody nose, Sleepin', you're on your tippy toes" set a scene of conflict and tension, where one person seems to be physically hurt, while the other may be sneaking around, trying to maintain a facade of innocence. The portrayal of the other person as "think[ing they're] so criminal" suggests a sense of arrogance and manipulation in their behavior.
As the lyrics progress, the singer describes how they are willing to endure pain and bruises for this person, indicating a willingness to tolerate mistreatment in the name of love or desire. The lines "Don't say thank you or please, I do what I want when I'm wanting to, My soul? So cynical" show a rebellious and defiant attitude towards societal norms and expectations, with a hint of self-awareness about the darker aspects of their personality.
The chorus introduces the idea of the singer embracing their role as the "bad guy," reveling in the power and allure that comes with being seen as rebellious and provocative. The lyrics "I'm that bad type, Make your mama sad type, Make your girlfriend mad tight, Might seduce your dad type" suggest a deliberate attempt to challenge and provoke those around them, playing into a persona that is deliberately disruptive and confrontational.
The later verses delve deeper into the complexities of the relationship, hinting at a sense of manipulation and control on the part of the other person. The singer finds pleasure in letting this person take control, even if they are aware that it may not be a healthy or equal dynamic. The reference to the singer's mother not approving of their behavior adds a layer of family dynamics and societal expectations to the narrative, showing a clash between personal desires and external judgment.
Overall, the lyrics of "Bad Guy" by The Weeks paint a picture of a tumultuous and intense relationship marked by power struggles, rebellion, and a willingness to embrace a darker, more provocative persona. The singer challenges societal norms and expectations, reveling in the thrill of being seen as the "bad guy" while also hinting at a deeper vulnerability and need for validation. The song captures the complexity of human relationships and the complexities of identity and self-expression in a compelling and provocative way.
