Evie
The Wrights Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
But if you know me well you'd understand the way I do
Evie, must be a better way to say the things I feel
The love I only know with you
But I don't know what it is that makes me feel the way I do
Oh Evie, I'm nothing without you
Evie, the sun is shining now
Evie, I want to thank you now for giving me this child
So much a part of me and you
But I don't know what it is that makes me feel the way I do
Oh-oh-oh Evie
Oh-oh-oh Evie
Oh Evie
So much in love with you
The Wrights' song "Evie" is a heartfelt tribute to a significant other named Evie. The lyrics convey a deep love and appreciation for Evie, but the singer struggles to find the right words to fully express their emotions. The opening line, "Evie, there seems so much to say," sets the tone for the song as the singer grapples with how to put their feelings into words. The next line, "But if you know me well you'd understand the way I do," suggests that Evie understands the singer's love for her even if it can't be fully articulated.
The middle verse reveals that Evie has given the singer a child, whom they both love deeply. This child represents a physical manifestation of the love between Evie and the singer, and highlights their deep bond. However, once again, the singer struggles to put their feelings into words, lamenting, "But I don't know what it is that makes me feel the way I do." The repeated refrain of "Oh Evie, I'm nothing without you" reinforces just how much Evie means to the singer.
Overall, "Evie" is a simple yet poignant love song that beautifully captures the difficulty of expressing deep emotions. The lyrics highlight the importance of understanding and appreciating those we love, even when we struggle to put those feelings into words.
