She is famous for her collaboration song with SoulJa, "Koko ni Iru yo", and her answer song "Soba ni Iru ne". In September 2008, the Guinness World Records certified that "Soba ni Iru ne" became the best-selling digital download single in Japan with over two million "full-track" downloads (Chaku Uta Full). However, the record of the Guinness World Records was replaced by Greeeen's song "Kiseki" in June of 2009. Including various forms of digital downloads, it sold over 8.7 million downloads by November 2008. Both of the songs are similar, and both share the same chorus. However, the song "Soba ni Iru ne" proved to be more popular than the song "Koko ni Iru yo", debuting at #3 in its first week on the Oricon charts, and in its second week, reaching #1 on the charts. "Soba ni Iru ne" stayed in the Top 5 ranking for 7 consecutive weeks. It became the highest-selling female single (strictly a duet song) on the Oricon 2008 yearly charts

Thanks! my dear friend
Thanks! my dear friend
I promised to you
(You promised to you)
Fine after rain
The song "My dear friend" by Thelma Aoyama is a beautiful tribute to a true friend. The lyrics are simple yet insightful, and they speak of the wonders of having someone who can hear your heart's whispers and always be there for you. The first verse talks about the singer's tendency to be selfish and stubborn, but they find solace in being next to their friend, who seems to understand them well. They smile through their worries, pretending to be strong, but their friend's kindness and warmth make them feel safe and accepted.
The second verse explores the idea that even in the worst of sorrows, there's always something to learn and cherish. The singer encourages their friend to embrace their struggles, for they will one day look back and smile at how far they've come. The chorus is a reminder that we all have something to protect in our hearts, and it's the people we care for the most. The singer vows to appreciate their friend and live authentically, setting an example for others to follow. The bridge is a beautiful nod to the power of promises and how they can rekindle the passion we once had. The song ends by urging us to keep walking, even when the sky is cloudy, for there's always a bridge of hope that connects us to our dreams.
