Let Him Go
Three of Hearts Lyrics

She don't want to go out anywhere
She's working on a way to get him out of her mind
But when the phone rings she'll stop on a dime
She listens to his voice on the speakerphone
He says I wanna talk baby I was feeling alone
And it's the same old thing
She'll pick it up again
But it's a one-way ticket
It's a one-way street
It's the same old tune to a different beat
It's me me me me me me me
What's it gonna take to make her see
That she's gotta let him go?
He only calls when he needs a fix
And she never gets anything out of it
But the same old tears and the same old pain
She wears his love like a ball and chain
She cries each time
He breaks her heart with his well-used lines
You'd think by now she'd had enough
But she won't give up
She thinks it's love
But it's a one-way ticket
It's a one-way street
It's the same old tune to a different beat
It's me me me me me me me
What's it gonna take to make her see
That she's gotta let him go?
She wonders
She worries
Will she ever be free?
She's hurtin'
But she's certain
They were meant to be
It's me me me me me me me
What's it gonna take to make her see
That she's gotta let him go?
The lyrics to Three of Hearts's song 'Let Him Go' revolve around a woman who is struggling to let go of a toxic relationship. She admits to being scared and not wanting to go out anywhere, which suggests that her partner has control over her life. Even though she is working on getting him out of her mind, she is unable to resist his calls. He only calls when he needs something from her and she never gets anything out of the relationship except pain and tears. Despite this, she still thinks that they were meant to be together, and she is not ready to give up on him yet.
The chorus of the song emphasizes the fact that the relationship is one-sided and that the woman needs to let him go. It's a "one-way ticket" and a "one-way street" where everything is about him, and she never gets anything in return. The repetition of "me me me me me me me" highlights the self-centered nature of the partner and how the woman is being taken advantage of. The woman's friends and family have probably advised her to move on, but she is struggling to let go.
In conclusion, 'Let Him Go' is a powerful song that highlights the struggles of letting go of a toxic relationship. Despite being aware of the pain and hurt that her partner causes her, the woman is still holding on to the hope that they can be together. The lyrics remind us that sometimes, it takes a lot of courage to walk away from a relationship that is not fulfilling.
