rock n’ roll trio Tim and the 23s has been paying their dues on the road and in local clubs
laying down they’re gritty style of riff filled, story laden, sometimes Americana infused homegrown rock. Inspired by classic artists such as Bruce Springsteen and the Rolling Stones as well as more contemporary acts like Wilco and Ween, the band’s style has deep roots while continuing to grow into something exciting and new.
Since the release of the band’s first self-titled album in 2006, they have been playing shows regularly in their hometown as well as visiting other major cities such as Phoenix and Seattle including a tour of the western United States in 2007, wrapping up the road trip at the famed Whiskey-A-Go-Go on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood, Ca. During this time they have also written and recorded their second album “Dislocated”, released on October 20, 2009.

Get stuck in a ditch way out in the middle of nowhere
Get yourself in a bind, lose the shirt off your back
Need a floor, need a couch, need a bus fare
This is where the rubber meets the road
This is where the cream is gonna rise
This is what you really didn't know
You find out who your friends are
Somebody's gonna drop everything
Run out and crank up their car
Hit the gas get their fast
Never stop to think 'what's in it for me?' or 'it's way too far.'
They just show on up with their big old heart
You find out who you're friends are
Everybody wants to slap your back
Wants to shake your hand
When you're up on top of that mountain
But let one of those rocks give way then you slide back down look up
And see who's around then
This ain't where the road comes to an end
This ain't where the bandwagon stops
This is just one of those times when
A lot of folks jump off
You find out who your friends are
Somebody's gonna drop everything
Run out and crank up their car
Hit the gas get there fast
Never stop to think 'what's in it for me?' or 'it's way too far.'
They just show on up with that big old heart
You find out who you're friends are
When the water's high
When the weather's not so fair
When the well runs dry
Who's gonna be there?
You find out who your friends are
Somebody's gonna drop everything
Run out and crank up their car
Hit the gas get there fast
Never stop to think 'what's in it for me?' or 'it's way too far.'
They just show on up with their big old heart
You find out who you're friends are, you find out who you're friends are [Repeat first verse}
In "Find Out", Tim and the 23s communicate a deeply insightful message about friendship and loyalty. The first verse describes a difficult situation where one is alone, stranded and in need of help. This is where the true nature of our friendships is revealed. The chorus then goes on to describe the actions of true friends who drop everything to come to our aid, without any expectation of reward or recognition. The second verse contrasts the fair-weather friends who only stick around during the good times, with the true friends whom we can always rely on, even in the darkest moments. The message is clear that it is through hardship that we truly find out who our genuine friends are.
The song's lyrics also highlights the importance of reciprocity in friendships. In the bridge, the singers remind us that being a good friend means being there, not just in good times but also during the difficult times. The song encourages listeners to cultivate positive, loyal relationships with their loved ones, based on mutual support and trust. The song has a catchy and upbeat melody, which makes it easy to sing along to.
