Neon lights
Timecop1983 feat. Josh Dally Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I′m in the hotel all alone
And I don't know what to say
I′ve been tied so tight
Living night by night

So I head to the neon lights
Yeah I head to the neon lights
I watched the sun go down
Here in London town
I wonder where you are
You're so close but so far

So head to the neon lights
And I don't know why
Yeah I head to the neon lights
I can′t justify
So come on

Old friend of mine it′s been a while
You don't know me and I don′t know you
Let's light this up and watch it burn

So head to the neon lights
And I don′t know why
Yeah I head to the neon lights
I can't justify

So head to the neon lights
And I don′t know why

Yeah I head to the neon lights
I can't justify

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Timecop1983 feat. Josh Dally's song "Neon Lights" are relatable to anyone who has ever been alone in a hotel room and didn't know what to do. The lyrics suggest feeling trapped in a cycle of living night by night, and with nowhere to go and nobody to talk to, the singer decides to head out to the city's neon lights. The neon lights in the city symbolize freedom, excitement, and new possibilities.

Throughout the song, the singer's desolate state is palpable. They don't know where the person they're missing is, and yet they seek solace in the night, their only companion being the neon lights. The chorus is repeated throughout the song, bringing an intense feeling of wanting to escape, perhaps from a monotonous routine, or from a painful past. The second verse also introduces an old friend, whom the singer seemingly hasn't seen in a long time. The imagery of watching something burn provides catharsis and release from past issues, which could be interpreted as the figurative "burning" of old memories.

Overall, "Neon Lights" is a melancholic yet hopeful song about seeking solace in the night amidst a tide of loneliness and heartbreak.

The 80's. The renaissance decade. Great decade!

I got introduced to retrowave when i started seeing this girl a couple years ago. We quickly became very fond of each other. I felt like the music was encouraging my feelings to come out with a strong force. We were beautiful and it was intense like an 80’s love scene but alas it was not meant to be. As quickly as it started it ended and i first heard this song when i found myself driving alone at night with the most severe aching heart i ever had. The song helped some. 2 years later ive moved on but i still think about her when i hear this song. The whole thing feels like a dream.

I grew up in the 80s and listening to retrowave makes me yearn to go back to that era so strongly that my heart actually physically hurts.

It's a gift and a curse, I think one that not many share, specially for the 80's. Hearing a song, smelling a smell that teleports you back to a time a neon and sythn's.. nostalgia so strong, it pulls at you from within, your eyes fill with tears, then when you think you're at the height of the moment, you remember, it's all done and never will come back, the 80's will forever be in the 80's, these moments of nostalgia are all that remains, hold on to that feeling, feel it as much as you can, cry if you want too

@Exiria

Time is a construct. If you want to be back there, then you are.
