A World Without Us
Timo Tolkki's Avalon Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

How is the world without us?
Is there a chance to adjust?
Where is the beauty we all knew?
Faded away to the dew

And in this end is there hope
Is there a way for us to cope?
With total destruction of all
This is our final call

And so we run and so we hide
Cause it's all done, most of us died

A world without us we're not learning
A world without us not returning
To the new horizons we will roam
We will find at any cost
The beauty that was lost
So into the brave new world we go

Mankind is descends to the grave
Because of the road we did pave
There's nothing left for us to do
The deeds are done, time to go

Still we run, still we hide
And so we live, but most will die

A world without us we're not learning
A world without us not returning
To the new horizons we will roam
We will find at any cost

The beauty that was lost
So into the brave new world we go

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "A World Without Us" by Timo Tolkki’s Avalon are an introspective reflection of the potential aftermath of human actions on earth. The song begins by questioning what our world would be like without us and wondering if there would be an opportunity to make things right. The lyrics describe a world that has lost most of its beauty, and humanity seems to have played a significant role in its decline. The song’s narrator seems to wonder if there is any hope for humanity, any way to prevent our inevitable destruction, and if so, we must act now.

The second verse, continuing in the same vein as the first, speaks of the end of humanity as inevitable. The deeds have been done, and there are no actions left to take. The only thing left to do is to make the most of what little time we have left on this earth. The lyrics express our human tendency to run, hide, and cling to life, even when facing the inevitable. The song leads to a hopeful conclusion, where the singer and all of humanity move forward into the unknown. They will find the beauty that was lost and create a better future, even if it means paying any price.

Overall, the song's lyrics are an excellent reminder of humanity's impact on our planet and the importance of taking action before it is too late. It is a call for change, a belief in a better future, and the strength and courage needed to create it.

Nice work indeed. Listening to a good song for the first time always takes you somewhere. This particular piece takes me to the guitar sound of Perfect Strangers album and the best Coverdale way of singing, but cleaner and wider. So, it´s more than good! The best to you Timo. Hope to see you playing live sometime again.
