Born on May 4, 1979 in French Guiana, Tina began to sing with her father, who was a French music composer, at a very young age. In 1987, she released two songs written by her father. Both songs were highly requested on RFO Guyane and other French channels. In 1991, she participated in an album titled Le monde musical d’Yvon ROLLUS with some of the best Guyanese singers.
Ten years later, after the success of the album Le monde musical d’Yvon ROLLUS, Tina was landed the record deal of a lifetime from Section Zouk records for her debut album Tina, which featured production from hit zouk producers Peggy Bajal, Steeve-Pierre Louis, Ludo and Laurent Tournier. The album Tina reached the top of the Caribbean music charts. This humongous success has landed Tina the award for best female singer in the Dynamitch awards in France in May of 2002.
In 2003, she released her second album Di moi tout with production from Harry Diboula, Ali Angel, Peggy Bajal, and Steeve-Pierre Louis. The first single from the album Sans Tricher was the one of the highest requested songs in NRJ Antilles radio in Martinique, Guadeloupe, and in her homeland French Guiana.
Four years after her second album, Tina is set to release her third album Couler du monde this month with production from Ali Angel and Nickenson Prud’Homme of Zenglen. This album features a special duet with Richard Cave of Carimi (mentioned earlier) in the song A tes cotés. Released on You tube on October 10, 2007, the video A tes cotés has already received an estimated 16,000 hits. The video was choreographed so well that rumors were flying that Richard Cave and Tina were a couple. Both artists have denied the rumors and said that they’re just friends and nothing else.
Tina is a wonderfully talented singer with a beautifully model-like look and great zouk melodies with a hint of Konpa in songs like Tchimbe, Je t’Aurai, and A tes cotés. Many believe that Tina will continue to have more success in the kompa/zouk music genre for years to come.

The high priest
And everybody out there in the universe
If what I'm saying is wrong
Then tell me the right way to say it
'Cause I wanna be made over
Paint me red, paint me green
Make me over, make me nice
'Cause when I'm done, Lord, I wanna be right
Hey, Lord
Make me over, I wanna be made over
Hey, Lord
Make me over, I wanna be made over
(Make me over, I wanna be made over)
Make me smart, make me king
Give a lot, give me steam
I want eternal beauty, spiritual things
'Cause when I'm done, yes, I wanna be a good thing
Hey, Lord
Make me over, I wanna be made over
Hey, Lord
Make me over, I wanna be made over
Make me over, I wanna be made over (I wanna be made over)
(Make me over, I wanna be made over)
(Make me over, I wanna be made over)
Make me over
I wanna go places, I wanna do some things
I wanna be a star, I wanna have a big name
But in my heart, let beauty reign
And when I'm done, I wanna have fame
Lord, make me nice, Lord, make me good
Give me power, give me love
I wanna be desirable, voluptuous, tantalizing
(Make me over, I wanna be made over)
(Make me over, I wanna be made over)
(Make me over, I wanna be made over)
(Make me over, I wanna be made over)
(Make me over, I wanna be made over)
(Make me over, I wanna be made over)
(Make me over, I wanna be made over)
(Make me over, I wanna be made over)
(Make me over, I wanna be made over)
(Make me over, I wanna be made over)
(Make me over, I wanna be made over)
(Make me over, I wanna be made over)
(Make me over, I wanna be made over)
(Make me over, I wanna be made over)
(Make me over, I wanna be made over)
The lyrics to Tina's song "TINA" convey a strong message of self-acceptance and the rejection of societal standards of beauty. The opening lines, "Anak anak bukan sulap bukan sihir / Ini lah si gendut lincah tina toon walah walah walah walah," translate to "We are not magic or sorcery / This is the chubby yet agile Tina Toon." This suggests that despite not fitting into conventional beauty standards, Tina Toon is still confident in herself and her abilities.
The verses that follow detail various activities that Tina Toon participates in, such as weaving rattan and selling rice cakes, as well as her travels to Pakistan. These lyrics depict Tina Toon as a hardworking and adventurous individual who defies the lazy and unmotivated stereotype that is often attributed to overweight individuals.
The chorus then challenges the negative stereotypes and assumptions made about overweight people. Tina Toon proudly asserts that she is not a lazy glutton, and that she can dance just as well as anyone else. The repetition of the phrase "Siapa yang bilang" (Who says that) highlights the absurdity of these prejudices and reinforces the message of self-love and confidence.
Overall, "TINA" is an empowering anthem that encourages listeners to reject societal beauty norms and celebrate their unique qualities.
