Isolation
To Humans Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
This deadweight drags me back down to the start
Even if I could escape reality and the raging hysteria
I know, it would only strengthen this delirium
So don't let me go
Your voice is the only thing
In my head guarding my sanity
Escaping
In my head from this reality
Yearning
Will this end
Will I see you again
Prisoners of isolation
My last breath
Will I see you again (again)
Prisoners of isolation
Now that it's said and done, we have nothing left to lose
It will happen again, when we forget
These prayers became regrets although they are all the same
I can hear the ghosts of the past scream out my name
So don't let me go
Your voice is the only thing
In my head guarding my sanity
Can't go anywhere
Escaping
In my head from this reality
Yearning
Will this end
Will I see you again (again)
Prisoners of isolation
My last breath
Will I see you again
Prisoners of isolation
I feel like I am dead but dreaming
And no one is there to hear me screaming
Peel back my flesh and then tear my heart apart
You could actually see I have nothing left inside
Will this end
Will I see you again
Prisoners of isolation
My last breath
Will I see you again
Prisoners of isolation
Again
The lyrics of the song "Isolation" by To Humans paint a bleak picture of a person grappling with inner turmoil and feelings of being trapped in a cycle of despair and loneliness. The first verse captures a sense of hopelessness and resignation, as the singer reflects on how, when everything is said and done, there seems to be nothing left to lose. The heaviness of life's burdens is likened to a "deadweight" that constantly pulls the person back to the beginning, making it seem impossible to escape from reality and the chaos that surrounds them. Despite the yearning to break free from this oppressive state of mind, there is an acknowledgment that doing so might only serve to amplify the confusion and delirium that already consume the individual.
The repeated plea throughout the song to not be let go highlights a desperate need for connection and support, as the singer struggles to hold onto their sanity amidst the overwhelming sense of isolation. The mention of a voice serving as a lifeline in the midst of turmoil suggests that this connection, real or imagined, is crucial in providing a semblance of comfort and stability in an otherwise chaotic world. The inability to escape from the harsh realities of life and a yearning for a reprieve from the pain and suffering are central themes that resonate throughout the lyrics.
The repetition of the phrase "will I see you again" underscores a desire for reunion and the fear of being permanently separated from someone significant. The idea of being imprisoned by isolation conveys a sense of being trapped in one's own thoughts and emotions, unable to break free from the cycle of despair and longing. The haunting imagery of ghosts from the past screaming out the singer's name adds an eerie and unsettling tone to the narrative, emphasizing the weight of unfulfilled prayers and regrets that continue to haunt the individual.
The final verse delves deeper into the singer's inner torment, with vivid descriptions of feeling dead inside and screaming out in agony with no one to hear. The imagery of having one's flesh peeled back and heart torn apart metaphorically represents a profound sense of emotional vulnerability and emptiness. The repeated questioning of whether this state of isolation will ever come to an end and the longing to be reunited with a significant person further emphasize the theme of yearning for connection and escape from the confines of loneliness. Overall, the lyrics of "Isolation" capture a poignant exploration of inner struggles, despair, and the enduring hope for a sense of belonging and release from emotional confinement.
