I'm Walking
Tom Jones Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'm walkin', yes indeed, and I'm talkin' 'bout you and me
I'm hopin' that you'll come back to me (yes)
I'm lonely as I can be, I'm waitin' for your company
I'm hopin' that you'll come back to me
What 'ya gonna do when the well runs dry?
You're gonna run away and hide
I'm gonna run right by your side, for you pretty baby I'll even die
I'm walkin', yes indeed, I'm talkin' 'bout you and me
I'm hopin' that you'll come back to me

I'm walkin', yes indeed, and I'm talkin' 'bout you and me
I'm hopin' that you'll come back to me (yes)
I'm lonely as I can be, I'm waitin' for your company
I'm hopin' that you'll come back to me
What 'ya gonna do when the well runs dry?
You're gonna sit right down and cry
What 'ya gonna do when I say "bye-bye"?

All you're gonna do is dry your eye
I'm walkin', yes indeed, I'm talkin' 'bout you and me

Overall Meaning

The song "I'm Walking" by Tom Jones was released in 1964 as a single, and it became a top ten hit in the United Kingdom. The lyrics talk about a person who is walking and hoping for the return of his lover.

In the first verse, the singer is lonely and waiting for his lover to come back. He is expressing his love and desire for the other person, hoping that they will be reunited soon. The second verse brings up the idea of the well running dry, which could be interpreted as a metaphor for the relationship running out of love or passion. However, the singer is willing to sacrifice everything for their lover, even his life.

The chorus repeats the same lines as the first verse, emphasizing the yearning and desire for the other person's presence.

One possible interpretation of the song could be that the singer is trying to reconcile with his lover after a fight or a breakup. He is making a plea for forgiveness and promising to do anything to make things right.

Overall, "I'm Walking" is a heartfelt ballad that showcases Tom Jones's strong vocal skills and his ability to convey emotion through his music.

It's always good to hear Sir Tom Jones sing as he always makes is own lyrics up. But he did drop the ball on this one, you can tell this was not planned, as it catches Sally Barker by surprise and misses her cue. Take a look for yourself, I have included the lyrics for the beginning of the song. Still, you can all see it was an emotional song for them both to sing. The gorgeous Sally, singing her late husband's favourite song, with the great Sir Tom Jones.

Put on my blue suede shoes and
I boarded the plane
Touched down in the land of the Delta Blues
In the middle of the pouring rain

W.C. Handy
Won't you look down over me
Yeah, I got a first class ticket
But I'm as blue as a boy can be

Then I'm walking in Memphis
I was walking with my feet ten feet off of Beale
Walking in Memphis
But do I really feel the way I feel?

Hello amazing fan.
It has come to my notice that some of my fans thinks I was the person who died. Late jones was The one who conceived the twist on Romeo and Juliet with composer John Donald Robb.
He died 11th August, of cancer in his home in Sharon.
I’m still alive and much healthy.
Thanks dear fan...❤❤

How emotional that must have been for the gorgeous Sally, singing her late husband's favorite song, with the great Sir Tom. I loved it.
