Miracle
Tommy Sparks Lyrics

Come on let's move it
like the minors do
we're just as oldie on the out but (?)
that's me that's you

falling into the arms of a stranger
enjoying every possible danger
the James and Judy (?)
keep falling over
making up for boredom days

it's a miracle
the way you look at me
it's a miracle
the way you dance so free

wake up to the sound of the drums
we never thought that we were the ones

let's quit our jobs and stick to it
make a living just messin' around

telling tales for the strange to another
chasing waves in the sea of your bother

she won't look so she can't see
but it takes some magic just to believe

it's a miracle
the way you look at me
it's a miracle
the way you dance so free

it's a miracle
the way you look at me
it's a miracle
the way you dance for me

we're all on the ??
in our fancy clothes
gazing at stars
on our bedroom walls

they dance to the beat
because they are young
and move so fast
they've just begun

it's a miracle (they dance to the beat)
the way you look at me
it's a miracle (they move so fast)
the way you dance so free

it's a miracle (they dance to the beat)
the way you look at me (because they are young)

it's a miracle (and move so fast)
the way you dance for me (they've just begun)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Tommy Sparks's "Miracle" tell a story of two people who are living their lives in a carefree and adventurous way. They are described as being young at heart, even though they may not be young in age, and are enjoying a kind of freedom that comes from letting go of responsibilities and expectations. The song is an ode to living life to the fullest and appreciating the little things that can make us feel alive.

The first verse sets the tone for the rest of the song, as the singer encourages the listener to "move it like the minors do." This is a call to action, urging us to let go of our inhibitions and dance like nobody's watching. The line "we're just as oldie on the out but (?) that's me that's you" suggests that the singer and listener may be older or more mature on the outside, but still have a youthful spirit that they want to embrace.

The second verse is about the joys of taking risks and experiencing new things. The reference to James and Judy falling over suggests that they are also living life to the fullest, even though they may be clumsy or make mistakes along the way. The line "making up for boredom days" speaks to the idea that we can live our lives as a way of filling the empty spaces left by monotony and routine.

The chorus repeats the phrase "it's a miracle" several times, highlighting the idea that the simple act of being alive and enjoying life can be seen as a miracle. The way the other person looks at the singer and the way they dance are both seen as miraculous, showing how much they appreciate each other and the moments they share.

Overall, the song is a celebration of youth, vitality, and the beauty of living life without regrets. It encourages us to take risks, let go of our fears, and embrace the things that make us feel alive.

Memories from Summer 2009... I still love this. I played Tommy Sparks's debut incessantly. It was one of my favorite albums from that entire year/time period. I still remember the promotional video to this track as well, it was on Vimeo for the longest time.
