Bennett began singing at an early age. He fought in the final stages of World War II as a U.S. Army infantryman in the European Theater. Afterward, he developed his singing technique, signed with Columbia Records and had his first number-one popular song with "Because of You" in 1951. Several tracks such as "Rags to Riches" followed in early 1953. He then refined his approach to encompass jazz singing. He reached an artistic peak in the late 1950s with albums such as The Beat of My Heart and Basie Swings, Bennett Sings. In 1962, Bennett recorded his signature song, "I Left My Heart in San Francisco". His career and personal life experienced an extended downturn during the height of the rock music era. Bennett staged a comeback in the late 1980s and 1990s, putting out gold record albums again and expanding his reach to the MTV generation while keeping his musical style intact.
Bennett continued to create popular and critically praised work into the 21st century. He attracted acclaim for his collaborations with Lady Gaga, which began with the album Cheek to Cheek (2014); the two performers toured together to promote the album throughout 2014 and 2015. With the release of the duo's second album, Love for Sale (2021), Bennett broke the individual record for the longest span of top-10 albums on the Billboard 200 chart for any living artist; his first top-10 record was I Left My Heart in San Francisco in 1962. Bennett also broke the Guinness World Record for the oldest person to release an album of new material, at the age of 95 years and 60 days.
Bennett has amassed numerous accolades throughout his career, including 19 Grammy Awards and two Primetime Emmy Awards. He was named an NEA Jazz Master and a Kennedy Center Honoree. Bennett has sold over 50 million records worldwide.
In February 2021, it was revealed that Bennett was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2016. Due to the slow progression of his illness, he continued to record, tour, and perform until his retirement from concert performances in August 2021 due to physical challenges.
Bennett died in New York City on Friday, July 21, 2023, at the age of 96. His death was announced by his publicist.
What a Difference a Day Makes
Tony Bennett Lyrics

Brought the sun and the flowers where there used to be rain
My yesterday was blue dear
Today I'm a part of you dear
My lonely nights are through dear
Since you said you were mine
Oh, what a difference a day made
There's a rainbow before me
That thrilling kiss
It's heaven when you find romance on your menu
What a difference a day made
And the difference is you, is you
My yesterday was blue dear
Still I'm a part of you dear
My lonely nights are through dear
Since you said you were mine
Oh, what a difference a day makes
There's a rainbow before me
Skies above can't be stormy since that moment of bliss
That thrilling kiss
It's heaven when you find romance on your menu
What a difference a day made
And the difference is you, is you, is you
In "What a Difference a Day Makes" by Tony Bennett, the lyrics speak to the transformative power of love that can turn a dreary existence into a colorful and fulfilling one in just one day. The first two lines suggest that it only takes one day, just "twenty four little hours" to bring about a significant change in one's life. The images of "sun and flowers" replacing "rain" not only symbolize a change in the weather, but also a change in the singer's emotional state. The song's lyrics then suggest that previously, the singer was feeling "blue" and "lonely" but since they found love everything is different. The line "Today I'm a part of you dear" implies that finding love has not only brought happiness but has also united them with someone special.
The lines "There's a rainbow before me/ Skies above can't be stormy since that moment of bliss/ That thrilling kiss" depict the idealized vision of life and love that people often strive for. The idea that a single kiss can change everything for the better is captivating and provides a positive message. The lyrics' final words, "the difference is you, is you, is you" emphasize the importance of love as the force behind the transformation. The repetition of "is you" emphasizes that the other person in the relationship is the entire reason for the change that has occurred.

What a difference a day makes
Twenty-four little hours,
Brought the sun and the flowers
Where there used to be rain,
My yesterday was blue, dear
Today I'm a part of you, dear
My lonely nights are through, dear
Since you said you were mine
What a difference a day makes
There's a rainbow before me,
Skies above can't be stormy
Since that moment of bliss,
that thrilling kiss,
It's heaven when you
find romance on your menu
What a difference a day made
And the difference is you.

what a beautifull voice ,jazz singers are charming very often because they speak about their heart feelings, it is the most profound so it is difficult not to be true also what comes from the heart touches the heart .
jazz will never be out of fashion because it tells always of man/woman heart feelings and they are so various they will always find a way to impact you .jazz is mesmerizing ! do you know that people who love jazz are free minded they love freedom, are self reliable and confident. jazz is not subject to many rules of musical compositions it just manifest as it comes from the source of personal creativity it is almost full improvisation, so it is always fresh and new, new! jazz lovers are often world lovers and optimistic with success that follows very often.....have you heard of the king of jazz :Glen Miller? love to jazz fans...
