This Time The Dream's On Me
Tony Perkins Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Somewhere some day
We'll be close together, wait and see
Oh, by the way,
This time the dreams on me
You'll take my hand
And youll look at me adoringly
But as things stand,
This time the dream's on me

It would be fun
To be certain that I'm the one
To know that I
At least supply
The shoulder you lean upon
To see you through
Till youre everything you want to be

It can't be true
But this time the dream's on me...!

Overall Meaning

In Tony Perkins’s song “This Time the Dream’s On Me,” the singer talks about hope, love, and anticipation. He sings about being with someone he loves that he's not yet together with, but will eventually be close together with someday. I've loved this song since I heard it in "Blues in the Night", sung by Priscilla Lane. It's a wonderful, lovely song. Till just a few minutes ago, I had no idea that Anthony Perkins ever recorded! I always loved his duet with Jane Fonda in "Tall Story" but just never heard of his music in my 60+ years! What a velvety, dreamy voice with a gerat style.

We all miss ya, Tony!
So long from your Rose Bowl music supplier.

Never heard Perkins sing, or that he sang at all. He's quite good.
