The core members of the band were Glenn Hughes, Mel Galley and Dave Holland. After Glenn Hughes' departure in 1973, Galley and Holland decided to try to keep the band together, which they did with constantly varying line-ups until 1979 when Holland went on to join Judas Priest. At this point the band broke up. Holland tried to revive the band in 1990, after leaving Priest, but the band finally broke up in 1994. Their first three albums remain their best known and most commercially successful.
It's My Life
Trapeze Lyrics

I stand with open hand and mind
I stand upon the brink
Of greater things I hope I'll find
Maybe of another kind
I think
My eyes can see no wrong
In you I'm being left behind
And will I ever could have be so blind
I think
It's my life, my only life
My life to do as I see fit to do with
It's my life, my only life
My life to do as I see fit to do with
I stand upon an empty plain
A thousand buildings fell and never rose again
I see my future embroidered on the rain
I think
It's my life, my only life
My life to do as I see fit to do with
It's my life, my only life
My life to do as I see fit to do with
It's my life, my only life
My life to do as I see fit to do with
The song "It's My Life" by Trapeze is a powerful anthem that speaks to the importance of living life according to one's own desires, rather than being constrained by the expectations of others. The lyrics are written in first person, with the singer expressing a desire to break free from the limits that have been placed on them and to pursue their own vision of success and fulfillment.
The opening lines of the song set the tone for this theme, as the singer declares that they are standing "with open hand and mind" and hoping to find something greater and more fulfilling in their life. They acknowledge that they may need to move beyond what they have known in the past, and explore new paths to achieve their goals.
The chorus of the song is a simple yet powerful statement that encapsulates the song's message: "It's my life, my only life / My life to do as I see fit to do with." The singer is asserting their right to make their own choices and live their life on their own terms, rather than living according to the expectations or demands of others.
Throughout the song, the imagery is evocative and powerful, conjuring up images of a desolate landscape and the struggle to find meaning and purpose within it. The line "I see my future embroidered on the rain" is particularly memorable, suggesting that even in difficult times there is the possibility of finding beauty and hope.
Overall, "It's My Life" is a stirring reminder that we all have the power to shape our own destiny and live the life we want to live.
