Hangover
Under The Counter Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Overall Meaning

These lyrics are from the song "Hangover" by Under The Counter. The lyrics depict a sense of frustration and weariness, and the idea of finding solace in going out for a drink. The first verse suggests that when feeling troubled or disheartened, one should go out and have a drink regardless of any obstacles or hardships. The mention of a neon street and a Friday night that feels like flowers blooming illustrates the atmosphere of the night.

The second verse talks about the different sights and people one may encounter while drunk. It describes a mix of wandering people, both hopeful and lost, dried-up ideals, boastful fat, exhausted stomachs, sycophants, and striking beauty. These contrasting images paint a picture of the chaotic and diverse world experienced in a bar.

The last line mentions that all of these observations and experiences take place in a bar. The overall tone of the lyrics is somewhat resigned, acknowledging the difficulties of life but finding solace and connection in shared conversations and the act of drinking together.

Coffee can help in some ways but hurt in others. You're exactly right about it being a diuretic so you'll end up becoming even more dehydrated (and when the coffee wears out, even more tired). But it can fight immediate fatigue and is a vasoconstrictor which means it will help any swelling in your brain (which counteracts some effects of alcohol)

This is a great point to bring up, which is why we mentioned to take it 'before bed', though in the morning would be useful as well. But because Aspirin aids in the inhibition of prostaglandin, in this sense, it can be preventative as opposed to just masking the pain in the morning. There are risks and benefits for most pain medication! Thanks for bringing this up :)
