I remember this song from my early childhood it's amazing how many Old Time songs got adapted into children's music
@koleskab
This could be the very first rock'n'roll song. The sound was ahead of its time, when you listen what else was recorded at that time.
@whiskeysk
this is amazing quality.
Interesting that there are licenses from music rights societies on 99 years old recordings, isn't anything recorded pre-1924 already in public domain from January 1, 2019?
@enidrw2822
copyright is for 70 years after the death of the writer, not the creation of the song/book/poem etc.
@whiskeysk
@@enidrw2822 there is a specific cut off date mentioned in the relevant US Act regarding recordings from 1923 and earlier.

I love it, I love it, I love it!
@amoxy.
such a good song
@djdavemick
I'm more used to hearing this in a higher pitch, but this still sounds fine and dandy.

Glad that you like it. Please excuse me if you already know this. During the pre-1925 'acoustic recording' period there were several different recording speeds used by the various companies, ranging usually somewhere between 74 and 82 rpm. Victor's standard speed in the early '20s was 76.59 rpm (as the pictured record was transferred for this post). When played back at the faster '78' rate--as many or most people probably now do--the speed/pitch for those pre-electric 'bat-wing' Victors will be a bit higher than intended. Conversely, acoustically recorded blue label Columbias will be pitched down, as they were pressed at 80 rpm.

@The78Prof The singer played is not Wendall Hall.
