Girl You'll Be A Woman Soon
Urge Overkill Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Girl, you'll be a woman soon
I love you so much, can't count all the ways
I've died for you, girl, and all they can say is
"He's not your kind"
You'll never get tired of putting me down
And I'll never know when I come around
What I'm gonna find
Don't let them make up your mind

Don't you know, girl, you'll be a woman soon
Please, come take my hand
Girl, you'll be a woman soon
Soon, you'll need a man

I've been misunderstood for all of my life
But what they're saying, girl, just cuts like a knife
"The boy's no good"
Well, I've finally found what I'm a-looking for
But if they get their chance they'll end it for sure
Surely would
Baby, I've done all I could

Now it's up to you, girl, you'll be a woman soon
Please, come take my hand
Girl, you'll be a woman soon
Soon, you'll need a man

Girl, you'll be a woman soon
Please, come take my hand
Girl, you'll be a woman soon
Soon but soon, you'll need a man

Girl, you'll be a woman soon
Please, come take my hand

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Urge Overkill's song "Girl You'll Be a Woman Soon" depict a young girl who is about to transition into womanhood. The song's narrator, who is deeply in love with the girl, tries to persuade her to leave behind the opinions of others and make her own decisions. The lyrics suggest that he has faced opposition or criticism regarding their relationship from others who do not approve, but he is willing to fight for her and do anything to be with her. He realizes that he has not always been understood or perceived as a good person, but he has found what he has been looking for in her.

The chorus of the song, "Girl, You'll Be a Woman Soon," is repeatedly sung, serving as a reminder that the girl's transition from childhood to adulthood is inevitable. The lyrics "Soon, you'll need a man" suggest that the singer is hoping to fulfill the girl's need for companionship as she grows up. The themes of love, loss, and longing make this song a classic hit that draws in listeners with its catchy melody and thought-provoking lyrics.

It is worth noting that the song's lyrics were written by Neil Diamond, who first recorded it in 1967. Later, Urge Overkill covered the song in 1992, and it became a hit after being featured in Quentin Tarantino's movie, Pulp Fiction. Despite the song's popularity, the lyrics have sparked some controversy, with some critics interpreting them as a celebration of older men pursuing younger women. However, the song's lyrics can also be interpreted as a coming-of-age story of a young girl and the love and support she receives from her partner.

One drink and that’s it. Don’t be rude. Drink your drink, but do it quickly. Say ‘goodnight’ and go home.
You see, this is a moral test of one’s self whether or not you can maintain loyalty because being loyal is very important.
So, you’re gonna go out there and you’re gonna say, ‘Goodnight, I've had a very lovely evening,’ walk out the door, get in the car, go home, jerk off and that’s all you're gonna do.

Dude you will never find a shortage of people out there looking for a reason to be offended and show their moral outrage, it makes them feel good about themselves even if they are a worthless POS. It allows people who do nothing to still feel good about themselves based on their own "feelings" and "views" while in reality their actions cause misery and ruin. It's a symptom of the mental illness that is liberalism and it destroys any thoughtful discourse or deep humor.
