Known as "Van the Man" by his fans, Morrison first rose to prominence as the lead singer of the Northern Irish band Them, writing their 1964 hit "Gloria". A few years later, Morrison left the band for a successful solo career, starting with the album Astral Weeks.
Morrison has pursued an idiosyncratic musical path. Much of his music is tightly structured around the conventions of American soul and R&B, such as the popular singles "Brown Eyed Girl", "Moondance", "Domino", and "Wild Night". An equal part of his catalogue consists of lengthy, loosely connected, spiritually inspired musical journeys that show the influence of Celtic tradition, jazz, and stream-of-consciousness narrative, such as his classic album Astral Weeks and lesser known works such as Veedon Fleece and Common One. The two strains together are sometimes referred to as "Celtic Soul," and Morrison rejects the characterization of his genre of music as Rock, citing Elvis Presley as a non-influence.
He continues to perform regularly and achieved his highest U.S. chart position (number ten on the Billboard 200) with his 2008 album, Keep It Simple.
Don't Worry About a Thing

Sitting round what's the use what to think
Well I've got some consolation
Give it to you if I might
You know I don't worry about a thing because
Nothing's gonna turn out right
Well this world's just one big troubled spot
I've used to be troubled but
I finally saw the light
Now I don't worry about a thing because I know
Nothing's gonna be alright
You spend your time trying to be the big winner
The minute you'll get fat somebody else will get thinner
There's always somebody messing with dynamite
You know I don't worry about a thing because I know
Nothing's gonna turn out right
Van Morrison's "Don't Worry About a Thing" is a song that focuses on the fact that life, in all its complexities, can be very unpredictable and difficult. The song's lyrics offer a simple message - that despite how hard things may get, it is important to keep a positive outlook, and not let the difficulties of life drag you down. In the first verse, the singer acknowledges the hardships of life, stating that if life is driving you to drink and you're sitting around feeling helpless, he has some "consolation" to offer. This "consolation" is a reassuring message that the singer himself lives by - he doesn't worry about anything because he knows that nothing is ever going to turn out right.
The second verse of the song continues this theme, with the singer stating that the world is a troubled place, with some people having more than others. He admits that he used to be troubled by this, but he eventually "saw the light" and realized that it's futile to worry about anything. The chorus repeats the message that nothing is ever going to turn out right, and that's why the singer doesn't worry about anything. The third verse briefly touches on the idea that people spend their time trying to be the "big winner," and that there's always someone "messing with dynamite." Despite all of this, the singer remains positive and untroubled, reassuring the listener that nothing is worth worrying about.
