It's Been A Long Long Time
Vaughn Monroe and His Orchestra Lyrics

Then kiss me once again
It's been a long, long time
Haven't felt like this, my dear
Since can't remember when
It's been a long, long time
You'll never know how many dreams
Or just how empty they all seemed without you
So kiss me once, then kiss me twice
Then kiss me once again
It's been a long, long time
Just kiss me once, then kiss me twice
Then kiss me once again
It's been a long time
Haven't felt like this my dear
Since can't remember when
It's been a long, long time
You'll never know how many dreams
I dreamed about you
Or just how empty they all seemed without you
So kiss me once then kiss me twice
Then kiss me once again
It's been a long, long time
A long, long time
The lyrics to Vaughn Monroe and His Orchestra's song "It's Been A Long, Long Time" express a powerful sense of longing and desire for affection. The repetition of the phrase "Just kiss me once, then kiss me twice, then kiss me once again" highlights the intensity of the singer's yearning. The phrase "It's been a long, long time" is repeated throughout the song, emphasizing the longing and the anticipation since the last encounter with the person being addressed.
The lyrics also suggest that the singer hasn't felt this way in a very long time, possibly implying that they have been devoid of love or physical affection for a significant period. The line "Haven't felt like this, my dear, since can't remember when" further reinforces this notion. The lyrics evoke a sense of vulnerability and emotional depth, as the singer confesses how their dreams have been filled with thoughts of the person they are addressing and how empty life has seemed without them.
Overall, "It's Been A Long, Long Time" by Vaughn Monroe and His Orchestra explores the bittersweet feeling of reunion and the profound emotional impact that a long-awaited encounter can have on an individual.

Lyrics:
Never thought that you would be
Standing here so close to me
There's so much I feel that I should say
But words can wait until some other day
Kiss me once, then kiss me twice
Then kiss me once again
It’s been a long, long time
Haven't felt like this, my dear
Since I can't remember when
It’s been a long, long time
You'll never know how many dreams
I've dreamed about you
Or just how empty they all seemed without you
So kiss me once, then kiss me twice
Then kiss me once again
It's been a long, long time

I am so glad people heard this in endgame and love it. I learned it from my grandparents when I was a little kid. They were teenagers during WWII, their older brothers fought in it. So that time and this song have a special place in my heart. Thank you so much for posting it!
Ps... I have it in an old CD collection, a 6 disc set of WWII classics.

I was so insanely exited to find it in a box of miscellaneous records for $5, best day or my life haha

I discovered this song during CA: The Winter Soldier, and it's summed up my romance and happy marriage to a longtime friend. It had literally been a long, long time that we knew one another, each of us in a difficult relationship...and suddenly we were both alone, and lonely. So, things happened...lovely things.
@jrcadet4
UPDATE: While I was working out the other morning this song began to play---and my wife, who works from home quite a bit, came into the room, enticed me off my exercise bike---and we shared, a sweet, slow dance. Lovely.

Is it weird that I’m only 17 but I miss the 1940’s in a way
@jacquelineklinges
No, it is not weird at all! I mean, I’m only 19 and I miss the old times as well. I don’t know why but it just feels like I was actually there. I am literally in love with anything that’s vintage from 1940s-1980s and medieval Celtic times, cuz I’m an old soul. So, you probably are, too, if you like old music like this. But don’t be afraid to be an old soul. It’s actually a good thing because listening to music like this is extraordinary and comforting that it just gives you such a nostalgic, rapturous feeling. 😊❤️
@drdimento
So awesome. If you ever wanna talk that era just say the word. I come just after that area born in the late 40’s, raised in the 50’s, turning teen and adult in the 60’s.
@mbh50mbh
Nothing weird about it
