Collapse
Vektor Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

We don′t belong at these heights
Watching over all
We've come to the point of the obelisk
Impaled as we fall

Collapse under the weight of time
In this still life of our design
Collapse into a great resolve
Everything falls

A broken image reflects from a shattered surface
Its shards of truth cut clean their meaning, our purpose

A tearful dawn sheds light
On what we have become
We were not meant to live like this
No life, no freedom

Collapse under the weight of time
In this still life of our design
Collapse into a great resolve
Everything falls

A broken image reflects from a shattered surface
Its shards of truth cut clean their meaning, our purpose
To struggle, to glean, to want, to bleed

We′ve bided time
We've traveled to distant worlds
On our quest for knowledge and power
We've traced the galactic whorls
And now full circle
Unfulfilled by what we′ve seen
This is it, one galaxy
Out of the shadows, my silhouette is torn
Freed from the darkness, I see my vile form
Bleeding out from a spiral clade
This is all I have
This is all that I have

To live, to die, to lose our pride
To accept our fate. Life is not ours to dictate

Stagnation is death in a constitution of progress
Now at the zenith there is nowhere left, nowhere left to go but down

Ruling in the present while the future eludes us
The further we push forward, the harder it becomes to look back

To struggle, to glean, to want, to bleed
To live, we must die. We live to die

Overall Meaning

The song "Collapse" by Vektor is a reflection of humanity's obsession with power and knowledge. The lyrics convey a sense of helplessness and despair as the singer and humanity as a whole realize that they do not belong at the heights they have reached. The "point of the obelisk" represents the pinnacle of human achievement, but it is also the point where they lose their balance and fall. The first stanza ends with the chilling line "impaled as we fall," suggesting that humanity has come to a tragic and inevitable end.

The chorus repeats the word "collapse" to emphasize the theme of decline and destruction. The line "everything falls" suggests that there is no escape from this fate. The second stanza introduces the idea of a broken image reflecting a shattered surface. This metaphor suggests that humanity's reflection is distorted and fragmented. They have lost sight of their purpose and meaning, and the truth is cutting them like shards.

The final stanza brings the song full circle. The singer references humanity's quest for knowledge and power and the realization that they are unfulfilled by what they have seen. The singer's silhouette is torn, and they see their vile form. This image suggests that humanity's pursuit of knowledge and power has corrupted them. The final lines suggest that humanity must accept their fate and that stagnation is death, but they must also accept that they live to die.

To live, to die, to lose our pride
To accept our fate. Life is not ours to dictate.

To struggle, to glean, to want, to bleed
To live, we must die. We live to die.

This two lines are so powerful for me, speaks the definitive truth actually. Life is not ours, cause somehow we open our eyes in a body we didnt choose at all, as the time and the context as well, and then we just learn that whatever we do in this life, struggling...gleaning...wanting...bleeding... we just "return our flesh to Great Alshain".

I swear this sounds like an instant modern classic. Kind of surprised how few views this has.

100k is quite decent for this Kind of music. Vektor would probably get way more recognition if they were active on social media and made video clips for their songs. Either way, they'll probably be remembered long after they've retired even if they don't become famous

Hatsune miku 01

dead account they need to make a movie about all three albums and make it like a sci-fi music ballad or something or videos for each song

Es mejor que pocos lo conozcan o si no veremos a un Vektor que evolucionará a un sonido que depende de los gustos de las masas de gente a la que debe complacer.

I usually hate ballads, but when Vektor does it it's amazing.
