You'll Cowards Don't Even Smoke Crack
Viper Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

HAHA, here's a little something for you busters, yeah

What's up with that?
Yall cowards don't even smoke crack

Hater, you don't even smoke crack, bitch, you's a mark fool
Motherfuck that ho shit, that's a G, that's him
I'm about to blaze up, 'specially when it's after dinner
I changed the game don't get it misunderstood
Hitting it out the glass and that smoke all good
Can't water it with green, get work, got that stick
Laws know I keep it, they on my dick, these niggas sick
But when I do smoke some weed
I'm straight out that rose, you best believe
But green ain't better than that hard, hard is so much fun
Seven for forty-five, wholesale gets it done
And I don't care if you judge me
I'm smoking cooked, and living so lovely
So stop looking like you're dumb
You know you wanna try, but fail to get some

It's on if I feel [?]
I'm blazing white, now my destiny ain't stopping
I'm coming up in a song to rap
I sold my soul to satan but bought it back from God with this song
Y'all bustas ain't ballin
Until you smoke some work and see who really paper calling
Y'all falling off like the last century
No respect from me till you get that cheese
And you see what life is all about
Till then you just a little bitch with a raised snout
I gets my clout from the mainstream
It's always love and dap in my dope scene
I'm clowning, and keeping it rock
My coke chopped and screwed cause I'm on the block

I'm stinging big and bringing work
All the while keeping y'all haters feelings hurt

Overall Meaning

The song "You'll Cowards Don't Even Smoke Crack" by Viper is a classic example of taking the hip-hop braggadocio to the extreme, as the song lives on nothing but the melody and its hook - "What's up with that? Y'all cowards don't even smoke crack." The song is an ode to the rapper's love for hard drugs, primarily crack cocaine. The first verse establishes the rapper's disdain for those who don't indulge in the same drugs he does. He discriminates against those who prefer weed, calling them out for not having the same level of addiction as him. The second verse delves more into his love for crack and how it's better than any other drug out there.

On a deeper level, the song can be seen as a commentary on the rap game, which has always had a fascination with drugs and addiction. Viper is pointing out how a lot of rappers talk about drugs but don't have the actual addiction. The hook, "Y'all cowards don't even smoke crack," can be seen as a commandment to other rappers to step up their game.

Story Time - Back in HS when I was first discovering drugs and also Viper, I took LSD. I took it a few times, but one time I took it and played Civilizations V and listened to You'll Cowards Don't Even Smoke Crack for hours on end. The majority of the trip, easily.

You'll Cowards was the shit that introduced me to Viper, as a sort of meme artist but only later would I come to recognize how prominent his influence is in cloud-rap and such as of late. Viper is pinnacle outsider music, and peak hip hop. It's one thing to win a grammy or something, but it's an entirely different thing to revolutionize basically all of hip hop moving forward.

Viper revolutionized the cloud rap scene and that scene has only extrapolated itself into every genre of hip hop we are seeing these days.

Unironically, I think in the great book of Hip Hop, people like MF DOOM and Viper are on adjacent pages.

Viper you are a legend and I hope you remain around for a long time coming.
