Virgil Lyrics

What he fears most
Isn't ghosts or snakes or violent attacks
When he exhales
All his air out
It is his fear that the air
Won't come back
I'm free...
I'm free...
I'm lonely
But free...
What the girl said
What she fears most
Isn't God or sex or arch criminals
But what scares her
Really makes her tremble
Is to be so well known
She is invisible
Repeat Chorus
We know
(We know)
What the boy knows
(What the boy knows)
We show
(We show)
What the girl shows
(What the girl shows)
Kings know
(Kings know)
When the queens go
(When the queens go)
Remember the ego
Go slow
Repeat Chorus
(Repeat Chorus in background)
I look upon child and suddenly laugh
I look upon earth and willingly turn
I look upon you and ask you to speak
Why am I lonely?
Why am I lonely?
(Repeat Chorus in background)
I look upon child and suddenly laugh
I look upon earth and willingly turn
I look upon you and ask you to speak
Why am I lonely?
Why am I lonely?
Repeat Chorus (2x)
The lyrics of Virgil's song "I'm Free" speak about the fears that usually do not make it to the surface. The first verse describes a boy's fear that when he exhales, he will not be able to inhale again. The fear of not being able to catch his breath plays on his mind, and this fear consumes him. The second verse describes a girl's fear that what scares her the most is not being invisible but to be so well known that people can see right through her. Her fear of being seen is so strong that it makes her tremble. The chorus repeats the phrase "I'm free," but with the understanding that being "free" sometimes also means being lonely.
The last lines of the song, "I look upon child and suddenly laugh, I look upon earth and willingly turn," and "I look upon you and ask you to speak, Why am I lonely?" suggest that the song is discussing the nature of human existence. These lines suggest that life is full of ups and downs, and sometimes laughter, and at other times turning away from everything. The last few lines also suggest that the singer is asking someone to speak and explain why they feel this way.

I am soooo excited to find this song on YouTube! 💃💃💃. These were the songs that saw me through a very traumatic and uncertain ‘teenage decade’, after my father walked out on us-my mom and my siblings, married his secretary, and started a new family with her. There was a lot of pain and emptiness, but because he had left us in this big mansion he built as our family house, and a seemingly stellar business empire, no one could really understand the depth of pain my family was going through. It was only our Christian faith that kept my siblings and I sane, ‘cause my mom was physically present with us, but emotionally detached, lost in her own world of waiting for my father to come back, so things could go back to the way they used to be. Of course, that never happened. 17 years later, my father died far away from us, and we all went to bury the man that we’d not seen in almost a decade, at the same time burying all the unanswered questions and feelings we never got to talk about with him. Thank you Maranatha singers and Integrity music for being there when we felt like giving up.
