The band's original members were singer-songwriter-guitarist Rachel Flotard and drummer Ben Hooker, both formerly of Hafacat; and Kim Warnick, formerly of the Fastbacks. Warnick retired at the end of 2004, but Muffs co-founder Ronnie Barnett signed on to play the bass during the band's 2005 tour.
Visqueen's song "Vaxxine" has received frequent airplay on U.S. independent radio stations.
Rachel Flotard also writes a love advice column for Seattle-based online publication Three Imaginary Girls called Love is Hard with Rachel Flotard, where she dolls out spirited, sharp-witted advice for the love-lorn.
Beautiful Amnesia
Visqueen Lyrics

Look down and wonder why
It wasn’t happening
Distracted by applause
Thought you might be the cause
And I remember it wasn’t happening
What it’s like
To see me
And you’ll forget about
What it’s like
To be my friend
Beautiful amnesia
Coming through to wash your mind away
Beautiful amnesia
Coming through to wash your mind..
Big hand sez that it’s time to go
You’re not leaving cos we told you so
Racing to get there
Expecting slowly that you won’t be here
The months have pass and it’s another year
And it still gets in your eyes
Sympathetic medicine
Diluting adrenaline
Pretending to get high
Beautiful amnesia
Beautiful amnesia..
The lyrics of Visqueen's song Beautiful Amnesia express the feeling of being forgotten by someone who once held a significant place in the singer's life. The chorus repeatedly refers to "beautiful amnesia," which seems to represent the desire to forget the pain that comes with being left behind by someone. The song showcases the idea that time can heal all wounds, but it can also create apathy towards a past relationship. The lines, "And you’ll forget about what it’s like to see me / And you’ll forget about what it’s like to be my friend" convey the loss of closeness and familiarity that comes with neglecting a past friendship or relationship.
The verses describe a person who is feeling disconnected from the world around them, distracted by applause and racing to be somewhere else. The lines "Distracted by applause / Thought you might be the cause / And I remember it wasn’t happening" could be interpreted as the singer acknowledging that she might have been thinking too highly of herself in thinking that the applause was for her. Additionally, it seems like the person who the song is directed towards, once a close friend, has since distanced themselves from the singer. The line, "The months have passed and it’s another year / And it still gets in your eyes" expresses the profound impact the loss of the person has had on the singer, even after a significant amount of time has passed.
Overall, the song Beautiful Amnesia reflects on the theme of nostalgia and loss, portraying the desire to move on from someone who has moved on from you.
