The band formed in 2000 when most of the members were still in their teens. They were first signed to indie label Bettie Rocket and released two albums before signing to Tooth & Nail in 2002.
The band broke up in July of 2004, but in a deal with Tooth & Nail, singer/guitarist Seth Roberts' new band Eager Seas, who were signed to the same label, released their first album under the name Watashi Wa before leaving the label. The band made it clear that they were parting ways with the label peacefully, but also that the band would be changing their name after the release in order to separate themselves from the fiasco attached to the names of both Watashi Wa and Eager Seas.

But I'm feeling what I know and its unexplainable
And if you could feel that air, run through fields without a care
And the grass would blow on you well then you would know it too
But grass dies and night falls and skies cloud to dark
It seems that its different, but you're near so real so complete
Forever so complete, forever so complete
The air I breathe, so full, so deep
Forever so complete, forever so complete
I could take you there, where you could feel that air
And the worlds could spin around, but it's always, always found
When you feel that dear run through fields without a care
And the grass would blow on you and then you would know it too
But grass dies and night falls and skies cloud to dark
It seems that its different, but you're near so real so complete
And the air I breathe, so full, so deep
Forever so complete, forever so complete
The air I breathe, so full, so deep
Forever so complete, forever so complete
The song "The Air I Breathe" by Watashi Wa is a song that speaks to the beauty and depth of a feeling that is inexplicable. The lyrics suggest that this feeling is so real that if someone were to experience it for themselves, then they would understand it too. The song describes the sensation of being in a wide open space, with fresh air blowing through fields of grass. It suggests that this feeling is both fleeting and eternal: grass may die and night may fall, but the feeling remains.
The lyrics of this song can be seen as a metaphor for a spiritual or emotional experience that is difficult to explain in words. The song suggests that these experiences can be deeply personal, but also universally meaningful. Furthermore, the song suggests that these experiences are not simply "positive" or "negative," but are complex and nuanced. It suggests that even in the midst of darkness or uncertainty, there can be moments of clarity and beauty.
Overall, the song "The Air I Breathe" is a reminder of the power of nature, and the ability of simple experiences to hold deep emotional significance.
