Whenever I see someone less fortunate than I
And let's face it
Who isn't less fortunate than I?
My tender heart tends to start to bleed
And when someone needs a makeover I simply have to take over
I know, I know exactly what they need

And even in your case
Though it's the toughest case I've yet to face
Don't worry, I'm determined to succeed
Follow my lead, and yes, indeed
You will be

Popular
You're gonna be popular
I'll teach you the proper poise when you talk to boys
Little ways to flirt and flounce, oh!
I'll show you what shoes to wear
How to fix your hair
Everything that really counts to be

Popular
I'll help you be popular
You'll hang with the right cohorts
You'll be good at sports
Know the slang you've got to know
So let's start
'Cause you've got an awfully long way to go

Don't be offended by my frank analysis
Think of it as personality dialysis
Now that I've chosen to become a pal
A sister and adviser, there's nobody wiser
Not when it comes to

Popular
I know about popular
And with an assist from me
To be who you'll be
Instead of dreary who-you-were, well, are
There's nothing that can stop you
From becoming populer (lar!)

La-la-la-la
We're gonna make you popular

When I see depressing creatures
With unprepossessing features
I remind them on their own behalf
To think of

Celebrated heads of state or
Especially great communicators
Did they have brains or knowledge?
Don't make me laugh!

They were popular
Please, it's all about popular
It's not about aptitude
It's the way you're viewed
So it's very shrewd to be
Very, very popular like me

I love that they gave Britney a proshot version of her Popular, she's really grown into the character since becoming lead.

I don't think its the same girl that I saw last week in st pete because the girl I saw portraying Galinda, absolutely killed it. Especially compared to her.

Rakiah Baker

This is one of my favorite musical songs

Scribbly29

She's really believable as a teenager which is pretty rare for Glinda.

Nicole Trudell

This looks like an early performance in her run, isn't that Lindsey as Elphaba? By the time I saw her perform with Talia she was even better - my favorite Glinda!

Brittney genuinely shines a new light on Glinda I haven't really seen done by other actresses (to be fair, I'm just comparing bootleg to bootleg #brokeandnotamerican). She presents a more "casual" and realistic air to Glinda; a wealthy university student who is actually quite aware of how the world works - hence placing more emphasis on lyrics in the song "did they have brains or knowledge, don't make me laugh they were popular." I love almost every rendition of Glinda that currently exists honestly. Each person brings their own interpretation - whether it is making her voice more shrilly, making her ditzy or incredibly silly. But I think Brittney's version (I am very unlucky to live in another part of the world and therefore probably never see Brittney Johnson performing the entire musical in her full glory) brings Glinda down to earth and probably makes the conflict Glinda feels in Act 2 much more powerful. GOSH I really wish I could see a full performance from these two - or even in the Wicked movie (looking at you Grande)

@Omar Vela yes!! It is hard to get through

ActorJulion

@Omar Vela You alone are literally making her skin color a big deal. You know how many other Glindas' on Broadway have made mistakes way before Brittney's time? TONS, and I still thought they did a fun job overall and I still have favoritesfrom back then. And to give you some education, A "POC" doesn't only just pertain to Black People, it pertains to literally anyone who isn't white...

Omar Vela

@ActorJulion it was bad and you know it but you're giving her a free pass because she is black

ActorJulion

@Omar Vela BECAUSE ONCE YOU GO BLACK YOU NEVER WANNA GO BACK!!! and so what if she messed up. People make mistakes in life all the time. It's not like she has breathing issues like certain people did from the OG cast. Also Mexican Glinda doesn't correlate at all, because everyone that's done this shit has their own unique way. That's what Broadway is.
