@Bucel cpsdr and what did Shawn say at the end, in summation ? He pays respect, acknowledging that without Dorian, Shawn may not have had the career he had. I agree with Shawn, Dorian did win by default, because on pure physique Dorian was way way down in those two years especially when he was injured, but Dorian brought the game to a new level. Then Coleman raises it again !

Asthetically Shawn was almost unmatched but it’s just that Dorian looked like shredded rock. Even with a bit of bloat on his gut I think it was honestly because his abs were just that brick hard.

I’m so far away from being a bodybuilder and two weeks ago YouTube suggested a bodybuilding video which eventually led me to this video. Bodybuilding is more interesting than I’d thought it would be. That rivalry seemed intense. Movie worthy IMO.

With all his shortcomings in terms of height and achievable mass, challenging Dorian to second place twice is a victory in its own right; not to mention beating his own fears and frustrations in order to be the best he could be.

What a classy classy dude, that's a true sportsman, and someone to aspire to. Shawn Ray didn't make excuses even in the face of loss, he still pushed and came back as hard as he could each time and didn't give up. Even though he never achieved Mr.Olympia at least he can say, that he fought and tried as hard as he could, in my opinion he didn't fail, not when you go as hard as he did. Shawn Ray, I salute you.

Even though Dorian and Shawn had two very different mindsets of narcissism in my view, I admire Shawn for fixating on trying to beat him. I can only imagine how obsessive that goal must have become at times.

Shawn had a great career and one of the best physiques of all time. But Dorian was sensational. He was Mr. Olympia during the best era of bodybuilding ever in history. Top 10 at the Olympia from about 92-99 meant you were one of the most impressive physiques of all time.

As i'm fromUnited kingdom I am very proud of what Dorian Yates has achieved, my cousin is from the same city as Dorian in Birmingham, he's been to his gym, what Dorian lacked in genetics he made up for hard training, he became grainy mass monster and his back still unmatched because he trained mega hard, due to his over training he had alot of injuries and I do agree that atleast twice he shouldn't have Won Mr Olympia but regardless he was an awesome bodybuilder.

Amazing video from Shawn Ray...he was just unfortunate with other very promising and awesome bodybuilders to compete in the time of the great Dorian.
Great tribute to Dorian......he is much more than a bodybuilder and My Olympia.
I just started bodybuilding in my early 20s and he just started competing in the IFBB than.........he was the one who most impressed me in regards to training methods.......high intensity......minimal rest....maximum effort.....least time in the gym.
I have modified my training a lot since I am 50 now but the workout ethics remain same......my salutations and gratitute to the legendary shadow and Shawn.

Well done Shawn, I enjoyed that. Both you, Levrone and Flex saying that without Dorian, you wouldn’t have been the bodybuilders you were. He pushed himself harder, set new benchmarks for what was possible, and forced the rest of the 90’s golden era to lift their game to try to beat him.

I also happen to agree with him that he had the better body in many of those outings his physique was polished and complete and his presentation was flawless.. he was smart not to play the size game with Dorian because he never match him on that front but in my opinion he gave us the better package in those years ... he was always tightly conditioned and his body had great flow...
