I'll Fly Away
Willie Nelson / Merle Haggard Lyrics

I'll fly away
To that home on God's celestial shore
I'll fly away, everybody say right here
I'll fly away, oh glory
I'll fly away in the morning
When I die Hallelujah, by and by
Just a few more weary days and then
I'll fly away
To a land where joys will never end
I'll fly away, here we go
I'll fly away, oh glory
I'll fly away in the morning
When I die Hallelujah, by and by
I'll fly away, little sister let me hear you play
Just a few more weary days and then
Let me hear it, I'll fly away
To a land where joys will never end
I'll fly away
I'll fly away, oh glory
I'll fly away in the morning
When I die Hallelujah, by and by
I'll fly away, one more time real loud
I'll fly away, oh glory
I'll fly away in the morning
When I die Hallelujah, by and by
I'll fly away, big finish
When I die Hallelujah, by and by
I'll fly away
The lyrics to Willie Nelson's "I'll Fly Away" speak to the idea of death as a transition to an eternal life in heaven with God. The opening line of "Some glad morning when this life is over" sets the tone for the rest of the song, which focuses on the hope of a better existence beyond this earthly form. The repetition of the phrase "I'll fly away" emphasizes the idea of leaving behind the struggles and pain of life for the peace and joy of the afterlife.
The lyrics also emphasize the communal aspect of this hope, as the singer invites others to join in with the repeated chorus. The mention of a "land where joys will never end" conveys the idea that death is not an end, but rather a new beginning in a place of eternal happiness. The use of the word "Hallelujah" emphasizes the religious nature of the song and emphasizes the role of faith in providing comfort and hope in the face of death.
Overall, "I'll Fly Away" is a song about the hope and promise of a better life beyond death, and the importance of faith and community in finding comfort and strength in the face of mortality.

Yes It is a great ole time gospel song, but we won't fly, to be absent of the body is to be present with The Lord. When we die, the spirit is present with The Lord in the twinkling of an eye.

MY MOTHER PASSED A MONTH AGO & I HAD THIS SONG PLAYED IN THE SOUTHEN BAPTIST CHURCH WE HAD MEMORIAL SERVICE @.... My mother loved to sing about God and believed her words 💯❣❣❣👍👍👍 Man she loved this song it was 1st or 2nd w/"old time religion "for her favorite if I had to say her favorite song was this... she was waiting to fly away and 💯 fact she did fly away... I miss you mother and will never forget how happy you were that I shared beliefs about God and what life kinda was after death...
