A few years back I was playing on the side walk by the corner of 8539 sunset blvd, I was jamming to the song Call off the wild, a slash song. I had just bought some shitty beat up les Paul, got for like $200 bucks from some guy I think needed money for his drugs, haha. Anyways I always look down when playing and noticed quite a tallish guy wearing converse, and a women with heels, my E-string broke and said oh fuck! I kept playing and when before I looked up I heard laughing, I was gonna tell this dude you what Iâm just busting my ass off! Before I said anything, I looked up and it was slash and his gf Meeghan. I didnât think it was him but recognized the hair and the smile and canât forget the tats! He was giggling and said keep going dude that shit happens to me all the time. I was so stoked and he stood there through another song, I thought you know, maybe heâll stand for a minute or two and go his way, but he didnât, he told me a bit about himself and how he would walk around looking for gigs to play, I told him about myself. I told him âI know you get this a lot, but seriously thanks for writing such great Fucking riffs man, you are such a big inspiration in my life, Iâd never think to ever meet you EVER!â He was so pleased with me and chilled, him and meeghan kept on talking for a bit and then we took some pics, he gave me a business card for some dude that could repair my les Paul, slash said if I ever stop playing he would send his bodyguard to hunt me down. I laughed and he went on his way, shopping or idk what, was such a huge honor to speak with him and get to create that connection with him.
