WISECRÄCKER kommen aus Hannover und pflegen einen Ska-Punk, den sie selber gerne „Brett & Bläser“ nennen – hart aber herzlich. Musikalisch irgendwo zwischen SUBLIME und NOFX – mit Texten in englischer, spanischer und manchmal auch deutscher Sprache. Die Geschichte der trinkfesten „Besserwisser“ reicht zurück bis 1997. Von Anfang an waren WISECRÄCKER Grenzgänger zwischen verschiedenen Szenen wie Ska oder Punk, die seiner Zeit noch sehr viel separater waren als heute. Es ist müßig, mit all den Shows und Tournee-Supports mit Bands wie NO USE FOR A NAME, BAD MANNERS, SKAOS, SPORTFREUNDE STILLER, SHE-MALE TROUBLE, FURILLO, MARK FOGGO, FRAU DOKTOR, LAUREL AITKEN, SKA-P, DR. WOGGLE, BABYLON CIRCUS, PANTEÓN ROCOCÓ, KNORKATOR, OOMPH etc. einen auf dicke Hose zu machen – also belassen wir's beim Namedropping… National und international sind sie auf endlosen Compilations vertreten und die beiden Alben bei Elmo – „I'd rather be down with the…“ und „Para mi Gente“ – haben Ihrem Ruf als einer der besten Ska-Punk Kapellen Deutschlands bestimmt nicht geschadet. Wenn man mal von den rein deutschsprachigen Ska-Punk Heroen RANTANPLAN und SONDASCHULE, mit denen natürlich auch schon mehrfach getourt und getrunken wurde, absieht, kann man WISECRÄCKER getrost als die beste internationale Ska-Punk Band Deutschlands bezeichnen. Auf zwei USA/Mexiko-Tourneen 2000 und 2001 lernten WISECRÄCKER durch Shows mit LOS FABULOSOS CADILLACS, TIJUANA NO!, KING CHANGÓ, UN KUARTITO, CHENCHA BERRINCHES, KARAMELO SANTO und PANTEÓN ROCOCÓ jede Menge neuer Bands kennen. In einer kleinen, verrauchten Cantina in Tijuana kam Sänger Alex „Dr. Klüse“ Mendez die zündende Idee, eben solche Bands nach Europa zu holen. Übersee Records war geboren! Wer sich die Bands der ersten Stunde anguckt, wird unschwer erkennen, dass die A&R-Arbeit ohne WISECRÄCKER wohl ganz anders ausgesehen hätte. 2005 erscheint das dritte Album „El Presidente“ dann auch bei Übersee Records (UER024) und, weil man bis dato schon (fast) ganz Europa mit Konzertreisen abgedeckt hat, setzen die liebenswerten „Skalkoholiker“ Mitte 2007 wieder zum Sprung über den groβen Teich an. Im April ist man mehrere Wochen mit den Freunden von LOS KUNG-FU MONKEYS in Mexiko unterwegs. Im Herbst 2007 folgt dann entsprechend eine gemeinsame Europatournee quer durch Deutschland, Tschechien, Österreich und Frankreich.
