Read Full Bio ↴Cult Tamworth, UK rockers, now recording again after a 16 year break.
Originally formed in 1984, the band released a series of demos on cassette before their 7" vinyl debut Clutching at Straws in 1988. This was swiftly followed by the Wasted But Dangerous 12" EP in the same year. They were highly regarded live performers and eventually caught the attention of Rick Rubin's Def American label, but their debut full length album (Live Fast, Die Fast in 1989) saw little commercial success, oft-attributed to Rubin's very flat production. Their later releases saw more favourable press, with their live album Massive Noise Injection being particularly well received. They split up when their singer Blaze Bayley left to join Iron Maiden in 1994.
Wolfsbane reformed in September 2007 to headline the Rock of Ages Festival in their hometown of Tamworth and followed this with a short tour in December of the same year, as special guests supporting The Wildhearts. More live dates followed in December 2010 as guests on The Quireboys' "A Little Bit of What You Fancy" 20th anniversary tour, and they also self-released a 'best of' compilation album.
It is believed that the band are now working on new material with a view to recording their 5th studio album in the second half of 2010. The as yet untitled album is likely to surface in 2011, with a possible tour and festival appearances to support it. Further updates will be posted to the band's official website, www.wolfsbanehms.com.
Seen How It's Done
Wolfsbane Lyrics

Saw a soldier on the TV shoot a little kid for fun
Put him on his knees, put a bullet through his head
Blood on the grass, the little kid lies dead
I've seen how it's done
I've seen how it's done
Blood of the gun
I've seen how it's done
I never started a war, but I've seen how it's done
Put your president on the TV
He says we'll blow them all to Kingdom Come, Thy will be done!
He's better than me, he's running the USA
Spending money on bombs, people starve every day
I've seen how it's done
I've seen how it's done
That was only one war for everyone
That's blood of the gun
I've seen how it's done
That's not the way it should be
That's not the way at all
I've made some good friends
I know how that's done
Stretch out your hand and use it, brother
Use it, brother!
When I won wars, I fought some genocide hungry battles
Everybody's sinking high, everybody's to stay cool
I've seen how it's done
I've seen how it's done
That was only one war for everyone
Blood of the gun
I've seen how it's done
Gotta talk about peace and love
All you gotta do is say it out loud
Gotta talk about peace and love
All you do is say it out loud
I've seen how it's done
Wolfsbane's song "Seen How It's Done" is a powerful critique on war, violence, and the dehumanizing effects of politics. The song highlights the singer's perspective on the horrors of war and violence, and how the actions of leaders and soldiers can shape societies. The lyrics "I never shot anybody, but I've seen how it's done / Saw a soldier on the TV shoot a little kid for fun" depicts the singer's disgust and horror at seeing violence carried out for no reason other than pleasure. The scenes are so vivid that the singer was able to see the blood on the grass and the little kid lying dead.
The second verse moves towards the government's role in war and violence. The singer again did not engage in violence, but they have seen how it's done. The lyrics "Put your president on the TV / He says we'll blow them all to Kingdom Come, Thy will be done!" highlights the power of leaders to determine life and death. The singer contrasts the government's war efforts with the everyday struggle of people. The lyrics "Spending money on bombs, people starve every day" shows the insanity of investing in weapons while basic needs are not met. The final verse takes on the issue of genocide and acknowledges the need for peace and love. The final lyrics "Gotta talk about peace and love / All you gotta do is say it out loud" shows the power of the people to enact meaningful change.
